Sky box not working

A friend of mine has had her old sky box under the stairs for the last 2 years and after reading all you guys have had to say i told her to hook it back up and use it as a FTA box. The problem is that when she reconnected it its saying no signal from satellite. Any ideas why this might be a really stupid question and…

Any ideas why this might be a really stupid question and forgive me if it is but is there a battery or something that could be wasted or what might the problem be.

Could be lnb fault, cable fault ,dish alignment or box itself faullty.

ok thanks i was afraid the answer might be something like that... im getting sky in on wed so i might try it on mine for her then at least ill now if its the box any cheap easy way to figure out if its any of the others?

Checking the box is a great first step. No cheap way of checking the lnb but might look at the screw on F connections to see if they are ok.
