    Hey all

I just started running last week to try get a bit fit and loose a bit of weight! I started last wednesday and from readin some stuff here i said id go out for 15 minutes and slowly build it up as I went on.
My problem is, I went out Wednesday and was ok after but i went out Thursday and was very sore. I expected to be sore but i havent being able to go out again because my legs still havent recovered yet. I tried on Sat but got no where. Is this normal when someone is first startin out? Im only 25 but havent done any sports or any thing in 4 r 5 years.

    Thanks!!

Right, start again. I suspect that 15 mins was done too fast and your body is rebelling. Even though you know that you need to build up slowly, after five years of nothing you need to start from a much lower base.

A lot of beginners on here use (or have used) the Couch to 5k programme here. Give it a go. You'll soon be plodding away much happier.

Well done for not packing it in after a bad start.

Stretching jonny, before and after. Plus it'd be worth your while investing in a foam roller:

and then using self myofascial release:

But overall your body will adapt so I wouldnt worry about it at all.

Grass and dirt tracks are much easier than roads starting out and also good runners are essential. They dont have to be expensive, just not what you buy in office. And the couch to 5k plan is good. I never read it before i started but it corresponds with how i started. Run for 4 mins walk for 1 and so on. Ive found it amazing for weight loss. Best of Luck
