Those 'release dates' don't seem to tally as here it has Spartacus as July 28th:

    http://www.cineworld.ie/cinemas/75?film=2859

and Scarface as 25th of August:

    http://www.cineworld.ie/cinemas/75?film=2858

and Blues Brothers as the 28th of July:

    http://www.cineworld.ie/cinemas/75?film=2860

I'll keep an eye on things and I'll change or edit the dates if anything concrete comes up but these dates come from Universial themselves.

PM me if you see anymore links where dates are mentioned - don't want anyone turning up on the wrong day like I did on the 25th Of August for the screening of Scarface :)

Ah, thank you! they were advertising scarface and blues brothers as completely different dates in the unlimited magazine. Must have been only for the UK cinemas, thought they wern't bothering over here at all

Same thing happened to me with blues brothers

Yeah, them mags are a nightmare. Last year it happened me for Jaws, if I remember right and I just felt embarrassed in the end. You get a funny look asking for a ticket to see Jaws in 2008 :D

Then in August I even phoned Cineworld and they said "yes, that date of August 25th in Dublin is correct sir".

The staff in Cineworld are sound though (apart from one new manager guy - but that's for another day) and they searched their system for a date and couldn't find one on the night. As I was waiting at least a dozen people asked was Scarface on and I was only there 5 minutes so I'd say a good load turn up when those ads appear.

The posters for Spartacus, Scarface, The Thing and Animal House have been up in the Lobby for ages now. Actually, now that I think of it they have moved them into the Bar area.

Anyway, don't fear as I will make sure that no movie passes by without the date appearing in the thread. I love when they show classics - I even went to see Dirty Dancing there a few months back :)

I did notice that myself, although only saw them in the bar area, but recently the spartacus one has been put everywhere including outside which is obviously a good sign.

Nice one, tis annoying that they arn't more vocal about when the screening are on or at least have a thing in the catalogue saying "certain cinemas only" or something along those lines. I saw Shawshank there a few months back, never tire of that film and was great seein it on the big screen

Actually no, there wasn't (but that thursday listing was up on the friday, before the showing), i'd say the screen had about approx 15 - 20 people in it, not even nearly half full (screen 11 btw). Hopefully this won't put them off future classic screenings though

Yeah, exactly - what was that all about?

I only found out on Thursday night and posted here. I know that was still the date that I put in my original post - but your not going to get many going just from reading this thread.

I seen four films in Cineworld during the past week and they did not have the screening times up or even the date of Spartacus despite having the poster up outside. That's just poor management.

Maybe that's why they have choosen next Thursday also as that means the listing time sheet will have it advertised for a full week before showing. Dirty Dancing was a Thursday also and it was packed.

Also, I have just noticed from their listings Pamphlet that it's also on Saturday! - Today!! Think I'll go now :D

Yet no online booking for that date though?

Cineworld are brutal at advertising. I wonder if in the UK they are this bad.

At this rate I'll have Scarface all to myself :) Love it when I go to the cinema and am the only one in the screen. Happens quite a bit at the Screen on D'Olier St ..

Anyway, those Spartacus times for those who still want to go are:

    Today (Saturday), Tuesday & Thursday @ 6.30pm.

The saturday showing has popped up on the website now. Maybe if you renamed the thread "classic movie screenings" or something to that effect there would be more visitors?

Movies@Dundrum are also showing these movies, same dates I think. I know the Spartacus tickets are on sale at the moment.

Delighted they are showing classics in the cinema -- really good idea. Can someone give me the date and time when Scarface is on? I love that film!
