College and dole

I am taking a year off college due to an exam f**k up but I will be registered at college till christmas. My question is can I get the dole from January till next September or will I still be classed as being at college. I have had a part time job for the past four years but its hotel work so will be non-existant for the first few months of the year.
Any help appreciated.

You should get confirmation from the college in January that you're not registered and that you're returning in September. From there you should be able to sign on for Jobseeker's Benefit or Jobseeker's Allowance if you meet the normal conditions.
