Most of our senior squad were either away on international duty this weekend or on the treatment table :D

Vedran Corluka picked up two yellow cards in his country's 1-0 win over Belarus in Englands' Group 6 and will miss Wednesday night's game vs England at Wembley. Niko Kranjcar played the full 90 minutes.

Alan Hutton played the full 90 in Scotland's 2-0 win over Macedonia to take 2nd place in Group 9 from their opponents, and a draw at home to the Dutch on Wednesday night will guarantee them 2nd place in the group. However, they may need a win in that match to avoid finishing bottom of the 2nd place teams for the play-offs.

Roman Pavlyuchenko scored twice, including a penalty, in Russia's 3-0 win over Lichtenstein to leave his side in 2nd place in Group 4, one point off group leaders Germany, and 5 clear of 3rd placed Finland.

Our own Robbie Keane scored a crucial winner (and a header too!) in a 2-1 win over Cyprus to leave us in 2nd place, one point behind next Group 8 leaders Italy who we face next month in Croke Park. Bulgaria trail us in 3rd, with a game in hand away to Cyprus to be played on Wednesday night.

Jermain Defoe scored England's 2nd after good work by Aaron Lennon in a scrappy 2-1 friendly win at home to Slovenia. Peter Crouch was an unused substitute.

Wilson Palacios appeared to miss his side's 4-1 home win vs Trinidad & Tobago. Not sure if he was rested or injured, his brother Jerry was listed as playing, though he had Wilson's squad number. Is this our boy? The win puts Honduras top of a tight qualifying group, and they travel to 3rd placed Mexico on Wednesday night.

Giovanni dos Santos scored the opener for Mexico in a 3-0 win away to Costa Rica in the same group.

Sebastian Bassong limped off after 24 minutes in Cameroon's 2-0 win over Gabon, and Benoit Assou Ekotto played the full 90 minutes in a win that puts Cameroon in 2nd place in Group A, with a win in their home tie vs Gabon on Wednesday enough to see them climb into first place.

I met some Mexican guys in Canada who said they actually knew and had played with Gio. They said they just couldn't understand why he wasn't getting a better chance at Spurs. He's the big thing over there. I must say I'd hate to see him take off and kick ass for another club because we only give him 20 mins in the odd cup game.

And the Irish game wasn't scrappy?

    Congrats to Robbie.

Annoys me, the slagging he gets at home as opposed to the praise he gets in foreign public/media.

Good to see JD on the score sheet again, every goal makes him more hungry for the next one.

It was, but then we are sh1t and were playing a team equally as sh1t so scrappy was to be expected.

England on the other hand are good, and were playing at home to a sh1t team, so one would have expected better.

Scotland were also sh1t, and Russia's 3-0 win over the group whipping boys does not inspire confidence. I didn't see the Croatia game, but I'm reliably informed they were sh1t also.

Lennon was class last night. I think he will be just as important as Terry/Lampard/Gerrard/Rooney/Rio for England's world cup hopes. Also, if Defoe had been playing from the start, the score could have been 8-1 imo.
