Any computer bought since june/july (iirc) is eligible for a free upgrade to the appropriate Windows 7 version. Just pay for shipping as far as I know.

That's not necessarily true, i know with Dell anyway that it was only specific computers that had the win 7 upgrade. I know because i bought a pc which didn't have an upgrade to 7 in July....

Vista Home Premium or higher since 16th June qualifies for upgrade.
Note- many manufacturers shipped laptops prior to this date with HP, and then switched to HB after this date- so as not to have to give out upgrades- there were very few Home Basic machines available prior to June- now there are rakes of them.......

    22nd/23rd of October I presume.

When Vista was launched the first Vista pc's appeared on the Dell US website on launch day and the Irish site the day after.

They've already shipped the release to OEM partners- so there is no reason they shouldn't be available from the launch date.
