Ok have been out of the "dating" game for a while so all advice would be appreciated!
I was in a relationship with my ex for 8 years and while I was going out with him I made a lot of friends in his hometown. i am from an opposite side of the country so I used always stay over in the town.During the relationship I met one guy and we instantly hit it off,we used to get on great but as I was seeing someone I obviously never followed it up.So its now over with my ex for two yrs and I was in this town about 4 months ago with a new guy and was introducing him to my friends down there.(I now work very close to the area as a result of relationship)As I was returning from bathroom, I met the guy I had previously known and we started chatting and he asked me if I was seeing anyone, I replied that I was and he said that it was a pity and if it didnt work out to make sure to get in touch with him.Roll on 4 months(split with guy) and my friends from same town met a girl that he used work with and she told my friend that he was mad about me but was too shy to make a move.I was delighted with this as I didnt know what to think about him.I developed a serious crush and eventually I managed to get him number. So after meeting him on the road yesterday and going as red as a tomato (I also got a huge smile and wave) I decided to text him, nothing heavy just chat but should I ask him out??and here is where the male opinion comes in,would you be comfortable seeing a girl who was going out with a guy from your home town for so long? I am all confused, been out of the loop so long and it took a lot of persuading for me to text him......I am 29 by the way...

Ask him to meet up for a drink, go from there.
It's only as complicated as you make it

Hi...you've initiated the texting...just let it play on from there, and if you play your cards right, then i guarantee you he'll ask you out. and as for the male opinion thing....yes,..i would be comfortable seeing a girl who was going out with a guy from my home town for ages. Relationships end for a reason....when there over then thats it, they should be over!!!!(a hard thing to do)!!! I wish you luck...and enjoy yourself, you sound so excited...like someone half your 29 yrs, lol!!!

Like people have said you are a grown up - invite him out.

Be brave and send a text asking him out like pronto ie ask him is he doing anything this afternoon and if he is busy shoot straight back and ask him if he would like to meet up.

My girlfriend asked me out and we clicked straight away.
