My other half's sister has a problem with her car key as the top of it has snapped off and is unable to open the fuel cap, apart from brute force has anyone any ideas how to get this open?
The key will work fine in the ignition and she is able to drive the car but it's not slotting fully into the fuel cap lock. It's a 1998 model
I found a thread regarding a Dublin? based auto key locksmith but they don't do Meganes according to the posts.

Any and all help appreciated, thanks guys

Try autokey.ie there in Tallaght, might be able to help.

This probably only applies to the 2003 onwards model Megane which uses key cards instead of mechanical keys.

Cheapest option is to get a locksmith to cut a blank key (no immobiliser chip) using your existing key. they can compensate for the missing bit and give you a key that will open the petrol cap. would cost around €10.

try different Renault keys or even a Renault blank key in the petrol cap, it may not need the actual cut key to open.
