Another diet and exercise critique

Hi – I’m new to this site but find it great. I have seen so many people post up information regarding his or her diet and exercise and was hoping someone could help critique mine. I would be really grateful.

I joined motivation weight loss last year and lost 2 and half stone through diet alone, very little exercise. I was never a gym person before but joined one during the summer and I am enjoying going there. In the last three weeks I have lost half a stone through diet and gym. I would like to lose another stone and a half to 2 stone.

    Rough diet would be:
Breakfast – bowl of branflakes – I know porridge would be better but I never had much for breakfast before and I’m slowly trying to get my body used to eating a lot in the morning

Snacks throughout day– yoghurt, apple, oranges

Lunch – 2 slices of mccambridge bread with low fat cottage cheese, lettuce, turkey and tomatoes

Dinner – either fish/chicken and steamed veg or chicken stir-fry with light soy sauce

    Exercise:
Gym 2 to 3 times a week where I have only just started jogging on treadmill (used to walk as I was afraid of falling off but I have overcome my fear) The speed of treadmill is now up to 8 for 20 mins. I find I’m bored and exhausted after this to work on other cardio machines. I look forward to the weights which are :
    Chest press
    Shoulder press
    Pulldown
    Leg press
    Seated leg curl

Then planks, supermans and forward rolls using gym ball

I have started swimming lessons one night a week also

I would love to lose weight on my stomach, thighs and calves (I never wear dresses because my legs are huge and I would really love to – sick of jeans)

I’m sure you will probably need more detail but can anyone give me advice on what I’m eating and if the exercises I’m doing are enough or should I do more. I would like to vary my diet as well to include other things.

    Thanks
    :)

the diet looks okay TBH .. there are a few tweaks you could make but if you have lost half stone in 3 weeks you are doing very well so you might not need to change anything .. i wouldnt advise losing at a faster rate...

I'd say keep doing what you're doing. Most of the work can be done in the kitchen, so if you're looking after what you're eating then you will be on the road to further weight loss.

    Best of luck with it.

Thanks guys. I did lose a lot of the half stone on my first week (4-5lbs) and now it is either 1 to 2 lbs a week. I'm afraid that some weeks I will not lose anything and will just maintain (this happened when I was doing the motivation weight loss). I have been keeping to the right food but I won't begrudge myself something if I really want it. This only happens when I'm around friends :) I'd like to become more stricter with myself but want to change my eating habits for life as it can be so easy to put weight back on so I like the idea of cheat days! :)

I am female, 28, 5ft 6, 73kgs (did not want to put that up but I know I need to for you to get a more accurate picture) As my grandmother used to say I am 'strong boned'. I really hate my legs. I can only pluck up the courage to wear a dress maybe twice a year. I have always had big legs and would consider liposuction when I get to my ideal weight if they have not reduced in size although I would prefer not to. I checked online to see what my ideal weight should be and it said 63kgs.

Yes 1-2lbs per week is safe and sustainable weight loss. I would advise against liposuction you dont need to do anything that dramatic. The results you desire can be achived with hard work, sensible diet and patience. You cannot "spot" reduce fat from your legs but you can work on dropping the overall fat on your body and it will in time come off your legs. Water is your friend also, aim for 2.5 -3 litres day. And treats are of course ok from time to time as long as you are working hard and eating sensibly for the rest of the time.

Thanks for the reply Dovers. I'm probably worried that my weight loss will just maintain after awhile. I would really love to lose the weight on my legs so I definitely will work on them. I only drink water. I don't like hot drinks or fizzy drinks (drank too much fizzy growing up) but find that I don't drink enough water some days. I'll keep an eye on this. I have lost 8-9lbs last 3 to 4 weeks so I shouldn't complain. I hope I will keep this up. No reason for me not to and I'm determined to do it. Thanks again:)
