Yo! heading off to Asia in November for 3 months.I have no plan or clue where to start or what to do so all my research has been from these threads.Firstly can anyone advise me on the best and cheapest way to book tickets? I would have taught it best to book london to bangkok return straight from expedia etc as opposed to booking from Ireland.Any advice greatly appreciated.

I know it's not Thailand but when we booked tickets with expedia, it was cheaper to go Dublin - London, London - Delhi than to go London - Delhi for some weird reason. Try everything!

I've found it's generally just easier to book Dublin - wherever you want to go. Picking up luggage in London can add a good while, plus your luggage allowance won't be as much (although you should always be well below luggage allowance anyway for the sake of your back).

If I was in you position I would go to Kuala Lumpur with Air Asia (bring packed sandwiches). Malaysia is a fantastic country, I found it far less touristy than Thailand and more interesting. You can then take a train to thailand and carry on. It's hard to go both the Malaysia and Cambodia directions from Thailand, bit of double backing unless you use one of the cheap airlines.

Have you any countries other than Thailand in mind? It's a lovely place but I found it very Costa Del Sol. Very little genuine culture left in the tourist spots (very much including Chiang Mai/Rai here).

Well now I meant book the flight connections together. If you're looking for a direct flight out of Dublin you won't get very far!
