to to a bodybuilding workout over a 3 day split?

With school back I barely have the time and not really interested in any of that Rippletoe stuff. Its not for me. I just basically want to look bigger and better and exstensive reading has shown me that bodybuilding and strength training while not being polar opposites definelty contrast big time.

So yeah 3 days, what would be a good 3 day split?

    Depends on many things mate.

Do you do any sports? If know I guess you can split with 2 days of Upper body and 1 day of lower body. Try do compound workouts first then 1 or 2 isolations at the end focusing on your weakest link. Try not do kill the same muscle over and over.

In addition do the deadlift at least once a week if not just once.

For Muscle hypertrophy you want to be doing go hard 6 - 10RM for 3 Sets
For Muscle Strength you want to be doing 4 - 6RM for 3- 4 sets
So I will say you should be doing 6RM for a mix of both just make sure you struggle with your final push at the end of each sets.

    Hope that helps.

Nah I don't do any sports, like I play football at lunch time but thats about it.

Would you definetly advice a 3 day full body split over perhaps legs/shoulders(monday), Chest/Tricep(wednesday), Back/Bicep(Friday)

I'll be incorporating 20-30 minutes Cardio on two eights day(prob wednesday and friday) and at the weekend as well.

Also how should my diet differ from someone whose aim is to build brute strength?

nothing wrong with that but remember must chest and tricept workout would also affect the shoulders. What I would recommend if you want that is to group as:
chest/shoulders and tricepts --- legs(hamstring, quads, calfs and glutes ----Lower back, middle back, bicepts, lats and forarm. Adominal every time if you want taht 6 pack :).

I am starting a similar split but waiting till after my physio check up.
    Monday - Lower body
    Tuesday - Upper body
    Wednesday - Core/General Strength Circuit
    Thursday - Lower body

    Mixed with athletics.

    I'm a weak bodybuilder ;)

But nah this is just what I have been reading and my conclusion of what I read.

Perhaps all the articles were wrong, I just know that I'm not interested in any of the starting strength or programmes like that.

No one in this forum never tries to help only loves to make silly remarks.

yeah 100% agree. maby they could say they've heard it all before so you should just read stickies but then theres no point having the forum unless its for people on an ego trip.

No one in this forum seems to realise how much behind the scenes helping that is done. I suppose it's normal enough tho when it's not people who are very active in the forum.

Well.... this is the fitness forum. Having big biceps isn't really the point of it all and there's nothing worse imo that a dude that looks like he only works out his arms. Do you want to be hard and strong all over or a puny fart with weird looking big arms?
