Anyone know when the local exchange will be upgraded in Ballymitty/Wellington Bridge area?

We used to be with Eircom on a 1meg connection and upgraded to 3meg but unfortunately our line can only handle 1meg so had to downgrade. Now we are with perlico on 1meg. I call our isp every now and again asking them when there will be an upgrade and everytime they say in a few months lol.

Its just 1meg connection is only good 4 browsing really and its so annoying how my m8s have fast connections especially for online gaming where as for mine..every game i play online lags like loads.

I soo wish there was cable broadband here like. We have sky but its a shame they dont offer their broadband package in Ireland.

There are no upgrades beyond what you already have. Perlico are lying to you if they say there is anything planned.

lol crazy to think I started this thread back in 2009 and it looks like there's still no upgrades in the Ballymitty area. We're with sky broadband now with a 2m line and as you can imagine it's extremely slow especially with multiple wireless devices in the house.

Does anyone know of any local broadband providers that do not use the phone line other than satellite? Our house is covered with trees so that must not help lol

The only good option to you would be fixed wireless or LTE ... according to this map, Rocket Broadband seem to be the only fixed wireless option.

Imagine LTE may also possibly cover you (though have a look through the thread on here about them).

If there are trees in between you and either of the above's transmitter, you'll probably be out of luck, so maybe get the chainsaw out.

How is the signal from the various mobile providers (Vodafone, Meteor & Three)? You might have options there.

    Obviously don't bother with satellite.

Are you sure Ballymitty doesn't have fibre to the home?

Thanks for the useful info...much appreciated. A local crowd called CTS Systems did a site survey in the horse and unfortunately couldn't get any signal. He actually told me this was the worst signal they have ever received.

I contacted rocket broadband and after checking my eircode they told me I couldn't get it which was no surprise lol Imagine said the same thing. Funnily enough I know if we were situated in Wellington Bridge which is only 5 minutes from us by car I know we could get high speed broadband so fine margins lol

Even though my telephone line can only handle a 2m connection I'm going to switch eir as sky broadband is poor.

lol yeah we have a lot of trees. We have 50 acres of farm land and nearly 10 acres of forestry and the forestry is behind the house and with the avenue and 2 gardens the house is pretty much surrounded by trees lol

oh that''s well handy..I didn't know you could check that way. Yeah I checked through my eircode and landline and unfortunately fibre broadband isn't available. I did also check the rollout map with the eircode and the new line road which is by the house is a rural fibre route.

I saw on the satellite map that even our neighbor has the green circular icon so hopefully they get to us eventually.

You might get it soon enough, if you have people close to you who can get it. If you are changing suppliers it might be a good think to make sure it is a company who resell open eir's ftth, so you can upgrade without penalty
