i imported a 2006 lexus IS220 from UK, great car well happy.

When I did the VRT they graded it as a 2.3 litre, the UK certificate did say 2.210 which technically is 2.3 rounded up, but is this unfair, i mean all irish IS220 are 2.2 litre and mine is the same car, same engine!! It means more tax every year!!

    Do i have a case??

You do have a case if a 2006 lexus IS220 with a 2.210 engine which was first registered in Ireland is treated as a 2.2 and yours is being treated as a 2.3.

If all the Irish cars have smaller engines than yours than you don't have a case.

The difference in motor tax per year in that case is €37. Mathematically 2.21 rounds to 2.2, but I assume the tax office don't have any truck with that sort of thing. No difference in VRT though.

2210cc is treated as 2300 for motor tax purposes.

my cousins irish is220d is on the books as 2210cc which means he pays 2.3 litre road tax. your vrt wouldnt change as the co2 emmissions are the same, so in my opinion, No, you have no case.

    hope that helps.

Motor tax is paid on the actual CC, not the rounded litre figure, so you'll be paying the same as all other IS220 owners.
