I am trying to find out if it is ok to put a sign on a roundabout.

I often see things on roundabouts like The Band are playing in The Pub at 7pm on Saturday.

Is it as easy to just errect a sign or do you need to notify Gardai or council or can you even do it at all??

All unoffical road side signs are a distraction to drivers, and some even interrupt a drivers view of other traffice and pedestrians.

This is even more so in the case of roundabouts, which require a high level of concentration to negotiate safely.

The Council could remove them. The Council may be able to issue a summons under the Roads Act 1993. COuld also issue a Litter Act summons unless the signs are for elections within the period allowed, or advertising an event.

Furthermore if there is an accident and it is claimed that the obstruction by a sign was part of the causation, person who put up the sign might find her/homself and defendant in a civil action.
