I only tasted it recently for the first time too. I really like it. Met my oh's cousin in Tesco and she was buying some to have with some kind of spicy soup. We bought some and had chicken or something with it. The crust has an unusual taste, very nice I must say. Most big crusty breads are usually delicious when they're fresh..mmm!

I try and support Irish companies and Irish goods where possible. Tesco, who are importing milk (kind of ironic given that this is Ireland) don't deserve our money.

when it gets to four in the morning on a friday.

and I'm discussing tigerloaf on an internet forum, not just in a natural flowing conversation, but actively clicking the thread entitled "tigerloaf".

thinking to myself "yep...i know my tigerloaf, I can definitely contribute to this"

I think its time I took a few steps back to examine what wrong choices I have made in my life and try to fix them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,985 ✭✭✭skelliser

I think it's worth the euro.

The crust crumbles away and makes a mess when you try to cut it but what remains of the crust is the best bit.

As far as I know, Tiger loaf comes from Belfast, will that do ya?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,041 ✭✭✭Havermeyer

I only heard about it yesterday myself.

Cooked up some pudding and had a couple of very tasty pudding sandwiches with it. Tis quite nice.

    Ok toasted. :)

Nicer if you bung it in the oven for 5 minutes and butter it with real butter.

Wash it down with Tiger beer to complete the set.

    And add a Tigerfish!

Man I love Tiger loaf. Only €1 in tesco.... yummm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 159 ✭✭Cheerilee

I'm suspicious of any bread named after an animal.. but bought one last weekend had one small slice.. chewy doughy horrible taste.. left it in bread bin remembered to take it out yesterday and the crust was still soft same look and texture as the day I bought it.. deduction its chock full of chemicals to ensure a longer shelf life..
