Connection Cable Problem.

I was just checking the cable from my ariel and to my surprise it has been cut, so I put it back together but the picture is not as good as it was. Will I have to get a new cable to run it from the ariel without breaks, as I presume a break in the cable will affect reception, or is there better connectors to put join the…

I was just checking the cable from my ariel and to my surprise it has been cut, so I put it back together but the picture is not as good as it was. Will I have to get a new cable to run it from the ariel without breaks, as I presume a break in the cable will affect reception, or is there better connectors to put join the wires together than the ones I used, I used cheap connectors from Tescos. I would appreciate any help.
