Completely respraying a car with good paint?

Just wondering if respraying a car to another colour is unwise? There is a particular car i would love to have but its only available in some shocking colours. Aside from the fact i'd imagine its quite expensive would it make the car harder to sell afterwards even if it was done very well?

BTW this isnt a particularly serious question as i dont think i would ever actually do it but just wondering.

Yes to both, i'm afraid. Out of interest, what's the car?

A volvo s60R which appears to be exclusively available in puke green. It looks amazing in sonic blue but they seem to be impossible to find.

Tons of colours for that car, matey. Lots of cool ones too:)

As long as it was originally available in the colour you want i'd recommend patience - one will turn up eventually. Or you could adopt the outlook that only people outside the car will have to look at the colour.;)

I dunno its a car that is very colour dependent. It looks poor enough with black rubbing strips as well which they nearly all seem to have. I just think in Sonic Blue that car looks amazing but in everything else it looks either only ok or quite nice.

Its also one of the only cars i can think of where the orange indicator light in the headlamp looks better than an all white unit. I love this car.

It all comes down to how important it is to you. If you really want that colour then wait it out. Forget about painting one though, between the cost of doing the work properly and the devaluation incurred you'd be looking at big money.

What should you expect to pay for a total re-spray of your car in the same colour - just to remove all scratches and chips?

If you never intend to sell it, go for it:P

I'd imagine about 4k for a decent sized saloon.
Might be off, but not likely far off.

    Whoah!
I thought it might be nice to tart the old girl up a bit, but not for that money!!!

Or for less than €500 you could get a good quality paint correction detail, if the fundamentals are good & you need to remove swirls and blemishes.

That sounds more like what I am looking for.
Any idea where I could go to get this done?

Lets be fair here. Most people want to get their cars resprayed not becuas of swirls and belmishes, but because of decent scratches, dings, and things which are very noticible.

Tarting the old girl up is next to impossible to justify from a financial point of view. A full respray for that reason would almost demand emotional attachment.

Having said that, I'd expect a truly factory finish for €4k...

Its time consuming for them to have to remove the engine inorder to perform a full spray
