Ok so the heavyweights have slugged it out and will be debuting on TV this month. Ive included brief stats on each fighter that ive taken from fightsport magazine. Interested in finding out who peoples favourites is prior to starting and see if this changes as the show progresses

    KIMBO - Age 35, Height 6'1", Weight 235lbs, Record 3-1
Everyone will know kimbo for his famous street fights on youtube (if not check them out). Is one of the favourites and it will be interesting to see how he returns to MMA action following his KO loss to light-heavyweight Seth Petruzelli at the final Elite XC event before it went bust.

    ROY NELSON - Age 33, Height 6'1", Weight 265lbs, Record 13-4
Nelson is coming off two losses, however these were to Andrei Arlovski and Jeff Monson. He is a former IFL champion and is amongst the favourites to take home the contract.

    WES SIMS - Age 29, Height 6'10", Weight 260lbs, Record 21-12-1 2NC
A UFC veteran who made a name for himself by stomping on Frank Mir! Has a big personality and will make good TV and at 6'10" will not be taken lightly.

    DARRILL SCHOONOVER - Age 24, Height 6'2", Weight 250lbs, Record 10-0
Shark fight champion with a 10-0 record, all of which are finishes. At only 24 is one of the youngest in house and is tipped as the dark horse of the season.

    WES SHIVERS - Age 32, Height 6'7", Weight 285lbs, Record 0-0
Tenesse Titans 7th round draft pick in the 2000 NFL Draft. What he lacks in experience he makes up with stregth. A powerful Muay Thai fighter.

MATT MITRIONE -Age 30, Height 6'3", Weight 275lbs, Record 0-0
6 Season NFL veteran training at Integrated Fighting Acadmey in Indianapolis with Chris Lytle and Jake O'Brien.

    BRENDAN SCHAUB - Age 26, Height 6'4", Weight 240lbs, Record 4-0
Former Buffalo Bills fullback Schaub is the TUF competitor most expected to make an impact in the sport. Four wins in under four minutes total. Trains with Shane Carwin and Bobby Lashley in Colorado.

    MARCUS JONES - Age 35, Height 6'6", Weight 260lbs, Record 4-1
Older than all the other former NFL players Jones has put together a record of 4-1 without ever leaving the first round.

    SCOTT JUNK - Age 30, Height 6'1", Weight 285lbs, Record 6-2-1
At 285 he is biggest of all the TUF 10 competitors. Has 9 fights on his record with one in the UFC.

    JUSTIN WREN - Age 22, Height 6'3", Weight 265lbs, Record 6-1
2 Time National high school wrestling champion training with Travis Lutter and is a formidable grappler. Youngest in house at 22 years old.

    ABE WAGNER - Age 29, Height 6'4", Weight 265lbs, Record 6-2
Another former footballer who worked his way through the Victory Fighting Championship to beocme the organisations Heavyweight champ.

    ZAK JENSEN - Age 26, Height 6'4", Weight 265, Record 7-3
With a background in striking rather than grappling he is unlike the majority of the TUF 10 cast. A 6'4" former football player also competed in Golden Gloves boxing and Toughman contests before making the move to MMA.

    DEMECIO ROGERS - Age 27, Height 6', Weight 235lbs, Record 0-0

Personally my pick is either Darill Schoonover or Brendan Schaub

    Gotta be Roy Nelson

Big Country's last two losses were somewhat controversial.
He arguably beat Monson, and in the AA fight the ref stood both fighters up while Roy was working a Kimura

hmm , i thought this series was gonna be all about Kimbo battering no hopers, but the line up looks very impressive. Cant wait for this to start

yeah i cant see Kimbo getting anywere in this . Oviously it will be great for TV so maybe he will make it half way. Then again he might get knocked out first fight and the legend of Kimbo Slice will be dead forever.

Nelson is my pick to win this tbh.

looks like the strongest line up yet on TUF and they seem to be older (mature) that the last few batchs which can only be good. Actually looking forward to this one.

I'm pretty certain that ESPN said that they have an exclusive deal with the UFC, so that's where it's likely to be

I have to say Roy Nelson for me, he did very well against Andrei Arlovski, and if he lost a few kg then he will be a beast, plus i think he is a brown belt in bjj too so that should help.:)

Kimbo will beat Wes Simms by way of Simms punching him in the balls 10 times and getting disqualified;)

A lot of former football players, UFC going for the lowest common denominator.

    Roy Nelson should win overall.

Now lets all panic over the possibilty of it not airing over here:
UFC comes to UK terrestrial tv with Channel 5 deal
    07 Sep 2009

In another Telegraph exclusive, I can reveal that UFC will begin broadcasting on UK terrestrial television for the first time next Monday, at midnight, with a one-hour special on UFC 102.

It marks a new staging post for mixed martial arts onto terrestrial television, at a time when UFC is making huge strides into the mainstream.

The hour show on Channel FIVE will show the Couture-Nogueira, Jardine-Silva, and Marquardt-Maia fights in full. I can also reveal that this will be a regular thing.

UFC UK Division President Marshall Zelaznik said: “This is a huge step for the UFC in the UK. We are delighted to partner up with FIVE - who are trailblazers in their approach to both sports and programming - and bring the best bouts and the world’s greatest fighters to the largest possible audience. ”

Zelaznik added: “We know we are going to create a whole new generation of UFC fans on FIVE. The UFC continues to smash records at the biggest arenas in the British Isles for our live events and form partnerships with the biggest names in British broadcasting.”

The show is to be called - UFC: Main Event.

The regular one-hour UFC: Main Event shows will be broadcast on FIVE Sunday/Monday nights at midnight. The first instalment hits the airwaves on at midnight Monday night, September 14, when FIVE will broadcast the now classic heavyweight three-round battle between icons Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Randy Couture, along with other exciting bouts from the UFC 102 super-card which took place in Portland, Oregon, USA on August 30.

I will have even more exciting news for fans tomorrow…

I cant find the new TUF being listed as on ESPN UK on their website or UFC's for that matter either.

    Nice find as always Rovert.

That's quite a coaching team Rashad has there, Greg Jackson & Mike Van Arsdale among them.

Nelson should be favourite but I wouldn't discount some of the ex-NFL guys,
they're elite athletes, though most likely pretty smashed up physically.

Shaping up to be an interesting season.

Hes in class shape to be honest, then again its not a bodybuilding contest either, roy nelson *looks* to be in bad shape but i doubt he is, and i bet he knocks some heads in there this season! RE Kimbo he obviously trains very very hard, hes just rough around the edges lets say..

I thought Bas' problem was more to do with Kimbo's "extra-curricular activities" rather than any problem with his commitment to training. In fact, i think i remember seeing a behind the scenes type thing, and Kimbo at least appeared to be putting in some serious work. Could be wrong though, it happened before a couple of years ago :D

His problem was that it was affecting his training. And that he wouldn't train any ground stuff before his last fight

hadnt heard anything about the lack of groundfighting, all i meant really was that i didnt think bas dropped him (directly) for notapplying himself in training, theres no doubt that Kimbo's leisure activities would have to take a toll on his ability to train

Excus my naivety but what are we refering to with "extracuricular activities"

there was a video of Bas discussing dropping Kimbo, but he doesnt explicitly state what Kimbo did, instead he says that he asked kimbo to refrain from doing certain things, Kimbo said he would, then didnt. As far as i understand it, we're talking about drugs, ( possibly cocaine) among other things, but i think Kimbo has connections to porn companies, as well as other shady type dealings, but theres been no straight up confirmation of this ( the drug thing) that i know of

As far as I know porn is faily open and isn't classed as shady

can they just fast forward to the Rampage - Evans fight instead. That is going to be some fight. They are hyping it already and I'm eating it up. Rampage is a fool for picking Kimbo

meant the both things seperatly, meant is involved in porn, as well as being involved with shady type things (having said that, i dont actually agree with porn, but thats a different kettle of fish) was just trying to give general info on his background. anyway all off topic so apologies

Then you probably wont like hearing that the fight is postponed well into next year until Rampage plays BA Baracus in the new A-team movie
