This went on my brothers car, common problem where the knuckle joint on the linkages pops out. Anyone know where new linkages can be bought locally or of a simple way to fix. At the moment a coat hanger is holding the linkages together!

you can drill the little ball and put a washer and spit pin but it wont pass the nct because of the extra play. After that you will have to buy a new unit from a fiat garage. They cost just under €200 including vat. Unfortunately any scrap one you will get will prob be just as bad as the one in your car.

Funny what you say about the play and the NCT, it is passed last time held together with wire!

Did the fix as johncm described, and to be honest, you'd be better off just getting one from a scrapped car.

if the fix is done correctly it will hold perfect

I don't see how it will to be honest. too tight and it'll be noisy, too loose and the wiper will wallop off the scuttle panel, or go too far up the windscreen.
