The next round of the fed-ex cup playoffs kicks off tomorrow and runs till Monday. Harringtons form of recent weeks has been encouraging and he looks likely to pick up a win soon. Woods has been consistently good if not his lethal best. Vijay Singh is twice a winner of this tournament and Mickelson has also won it. It's a stellar field again and should make for a great few days golf.
I'm gonna plump for Harrington and Stricker as my picks for this week.
The action kicks off on Eurosport @ 8pm on Friday.

Zach Johnson looked very good - not sure TPC is his type of track tho.

Hunter mahan is very consistant here.

Wonder will Phil show up this week?

its notable how many "experts" on the pga website have opted for padraig as their top-pick when usually if tigers around they all tend plumb for him exclusively.....

.....out of 10 experts 3 went for harrington - 7 for woods... doesnt sound too hot but its not often it happens.

padraig is 16-1 on paddy power to win outright..... not bad at all. he's 10-1 without woods.

zach johnson 4-1 to finish in top 10...... charlie hoffman 12-1 top 10

You're right there, I took notice of that as well. You would have to be impressed with his recent accuracy & length from the tee. If he can get his short game back to his brilliant best then he could go on a streak. I'm definately having a few quid on him this weekend.

    And we're off! ... Sweeeeet!

According to shottracker padraig just hit a 364yd drive off #14..... !!!!

i know shottracker can go a bit mad at times but its just showed his pitch in from the 364yd point.

364yrds!?.... i'll have some of what he had please!

So far it's been updated every couple of mins, shot by shot analysis at each hole. There's only video on some holes afaik.

HOLE # 18 looks like the easiest hole of the back 9 at least..... he hit a decent drive, was in the first cut of rough.... looks like he hit his 5 wood to just on the fringe, pin high, but had at least 55 feet left to the pin...

    He bevelled it in.

shot o the day no doubt.

almost all are going for the green in 2 though... such is the difficulty ( or lack of ) of the 18th

could be a phenom. finishing hole.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 877 ✭✭✭blackwaterfish

thats all the pent up frustration after he duffed that putt on the 18th last week.

-8 under tho... course record under threat.

tiger must be enjoying strickers company today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,591 ✭✭✭✭Aidric

First mistake of the day from Harrington, a three putt on the par four 6th, makes bogey to go back to -4.

He should pick up a birdie here at the par five seventh if he can hit a good second in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,591 ✭✭✭✭Aidric

Right, after day 1 Furyk & Stricker share the lead on -8 after shooting serious 63's yesterday. Harrington lies four off the lead after a good 67. He goes out at quarter to six Irish time this evening so should be able to catch some of his round on Eurosport. Their coverage kicks off at 8.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 740 ✭✭✭Cremated

You shoot -4 twice and still come up four shots short, feck me :D,

will the top boys slip up?, how do they go under pressure, Furyk looking good, but Goosen can blow up time to time...

yep, Nike have all their players wearing their college logos to 'celebrate the start of the season'

At the start of today I said I'd be happy if PH shot another 67. Fair enough he's four off but it won't stay that way imo. I had a vision that PH would shoot 4 consecutive 67's to win the tournament... Watch this space!
