As the title says, the PC auto powers down, no shutdown, just a pure power loss, when i insert something into one of the front USB ports

Its only that USB port, iv tested the 7 others.

    Any ideas?

Doesnt matter what device i try.

check the wiring. if need be, sever it.

Seen this many times. Probably damaged socket and you're simply shorting the 5v rail when you insert a device. Wedge a bit of non-conductive material in the socket to prevent anyone inserting a device, or pull the plug from the mobo!
