setting up favourites problem

got digital today for the first time (ntl dvr).I set up some favourites, without a problem, now however when I go into the favourites menu to change the settings, it isnt giving me the option to change, instead its showing me a list of what programmes are being shown on my favourite channels, and the option to view whats going to be on the following day.
I cant get the option to either add or take away channels.Am I doing something wrong or could the box be faulty.these are the steps I take to try change:
guide > favourites > this should give me an option to add new channels to favourites list

any help would be very much appreciated

Nope, what you're doing is to show you what's on your favourites.

In order to change your favourites, press the Guide button to go to TV Guide. Then press the green button for settings, and a little pop-up will appear with an option for Settings highlighted. Press Ok, and you will be brought to a full listing of channels. Here, you can add channels to your favourites by pressing the blue button, or if you want to take them out you can do so by highlighting them and pressing the blue button. You can also choose to put a PIN lock on channels by pressing the yellow button, or if locked you can unlock by highlighting the channel and pressing the yellow button.
