I am due to start college in two weeks, I just recieved a letter fom them sayingit would appear that I have previously attended/ applied to a third level institution and that this may affect my eligblity for free fees. They sent me a form to complete and return.
I applied about 6 or 7 years ago to an IT but left after about a maximum of three weeks as travel was to hard for me. I paid reg fees myself and they subsequently sent me back the reg fees. About a year or two later I applied for another course in a college but also had to leave, I dont think I was any longer then a month or two maximum there. Again I received no grant or financial aid.
I guess my questions are, has anyone gone through this before? Will I have to pay fees?
Will this stop me getting a grant this year?
It ask for my previous stdent number where do I find them? Are other colleges good about filling these forms out?

Sorry about all these questions Im just so worried.
    Thanks for any help

The years in question were 2002 and 2004 if this helps.

Well as far as I know you have to be 10 years out of college to get a grant for a second go.
Regarding the other course you started maybe you didnt formally leave and so you would have to pay for one year.
If you formally left before the oct then it seems like a bit of a mix up. You might try contacting you old college to see if they still have any of your records.
After that Im sure you could try and appeal.

it shouldn't but they might just not pay for your reg fee. Did you let them know before leaving your previous course? If so there shouldn't be any problem getting a grant.
