Sly To Return For Rambo 5

There is a point in Rambo, the third sequel in the jugular slashing Sylvester Stallone starring franchise, when a character asks the now hermit-like John Rambo, and I'm paraphrasing slightly here, " what about the outside world?" to which his response is "f**k the world." The film may have been all over the shop, but it was still good fun, and had lines like that particular gem to keep those actually listening to the dialogue entertained. Well, for you that agree with me, good news; they're making another one. Stallone will return to write, direct and star in Rambo 5 where, according to Variety, the geriatric action hero will fight his way through human traffickers and drug lords to rescue a young girl abducted near the US-Mexico border". So, more slashing and killing style shenanigans, which should suit its core audience down to the ground. Stallone is currently putting the finishing touches to his all star action epic, The Expendables.

Sounds good to me, The only time I can remember ever cheering in the cinema was during the last Rambe after the "Fúck the world" line.

Oh god yes. Rambo 4 was pure awesome. I heard they're thinking of toning down the violence for any further sequels though. Boooo

Tone down the violence? That was the highlight of the super enjoyable Rambo 4 :(

Well I read some quote from some executive somewhere saying Rambo 4 would have been even more of a success if it wasn't so violent. This made me very worried.

I can't embed this, but this video is well worth a watch. The final battle scene from Rambo 4 at half speed with some funky music over it.

That's been said. On the other hand Stallone knows better than anyone what Rambo fans want and I doubt he'd enter into a production without the knowledge that the crimson would stay intact. Or at worst, there'd be the unrated DVD to look forward to.

The last Rambo was just brilliant.

When Sly gets complete control over a film they usually turn out all right.

I dont think it needs another sequel tbh, I loved Rambo and it ended with the character coming full circle, finding peace, the story is over, that idea of going to Mexico was meant to be the original plot of Rambo anyway but the Burma stuff worked out a lot better, easily the most brutally violent mainstream movie of the past decade

Generally sequels do nothing for me,never mind sequels for franchises that died a death years ago, however part 4 was so astoundingly bloodthirsty that if a part 5 is in a similar vein then Im in there like swim wear.

    More blood and guts FTW.

Robocop was made in in 1987 and Total Recall in 1990, and yes, way,way more violent than both of them, bullets tear holes through people and 50 cal guns rip people to shreds, its more like Saving Private Ryan, check it out:

spoilers obviously if you havent seen the movie, but watch it anyway:D

Have to say that I cannot wait for this, I thought Rambo was one of the most enjoyable and entertaining films ever made and I have up most faith in Stallone. He knows what his fans want and won't disappoint.

    http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/a176187/stallone-discusses-rambo-5-plot.html

Sylvester Stallone has revealed that Rambo 5 will feature the lead character fighting a "feral beast".
It was previously reported that the NuImage/Millenium Films project would centre on the Vietnam veteran dealing with drug lords and human traffickers in order to rescue a young girl kidnapped near the US-Mexico border.

However, Stallone clarified the plot rumours in an interview with Ain't It Cool. He claimed that the story will be based in the Pacific Northwest, where experiments are taking place on elite soldiers. When the military's plans go wrong, John Rambo is forced to come in and save the day.

Speaking about the villain of the movie, Stallone added: "It's not a super-soldier, it's a feral beast; a thing. It’s this amalgamation of fury and intelligence and pure unadulterated rage, from before men became human - it’s inhuman!
"It's man's 'conscious' fighting his dark, uncontrollable unconscious. It has absolute cunning and intelligence and a will to survive that is only matched by Rambo's."
    Shooting starts in the spring.

I know most people will think that that sounds like an absolute rubbish cartoon-style plot, but I think it sounds brilliant. :D

Ah, Rambo wasn't more violent than Robocop. I still find the scene of Murphy being shot dozens of times shocking and hard to stomach.

That sounds like a very weird plot but I have faith in Sly, he's like some idiot savant when it comes to making action films.

I saw Robocop on tv a couple of weeks ago, it's been literally about 10 years since I had seen it, and I was enthralled tbh, I had forgotten what a brilliant movie it is! A masterpiece and what a score!! As a kid I could never really stomach the scene where Murphy gets shot.

I think the likes of Rambo 4 is more violent, but it's a kind of hollywood violence. Where as Robocop is much more gritty and real imo.

i think the bit near the begining where the nameless executive gets blown away by ed 209 is the most violent scene in the movie , the way everyone just shrugs thier shoulders set the tone for the rest of the movie

robocop is an anti private sector movie , still a classic though

Err, the original Rambo wasn't really that violent at all - didn't he only kill one guy in it? Rambo IV was a million miles away from what the first Rambo was about, and I'd wager most Rambo fans would welcome a return to its roots.

I dont think he killed anyone in the first film, if I recall correctly one of the cops fell out of the helicopter though I could be mistaken, I haven't seen First Blood since the morning that Rambo was released in cinemas.

Can't understand the entusiasm for this, Loved the first Rambo film and the second and fourth were good, but a fourth sequel does seem like flogging an dying horse...suppose I would get round to watching it at some point though!

First Blood Part II! Killing Machine. I loved the use of the claymore to kill six soldiers in 4, completely overkill! Fifth one sounds ridiculous (In a good way) Predator meets Universal Soldier, with the tracking skills of Jurrasic Park, I can't wait.

Oh dear, Stallone is really scrapping the barrell with this. Sly's idea of an action film is rather dull to be honest. The action is hardly ever very thrilling, it's usually a bunch of big explosions and chessey bravado, which doesn't really stand out. Last night on one of the digital channels, Cobra was on. When Sly finally appeared on screen it was one of the most unintentionally hilarious intro's I've ever seen. Stallone's action films haven't really evolved have they? Would agree with Cliffhanger being his best but I felt John Lithegow deserves a lot of credit for being such a great villian in the film and that went a long way to adding to the quality of that film.

    Agree completely.
Rambo 4 was a brilliant way to end the saga.

I'm not looking forward to anything that comes after it.

The John Rambo character will not be in this film. Stallone looks like he will be involed in it, with it being called HUNTER, but not as Rambo. He has dropped Rambo from it.

Rambo V is back to the original story of Rambo heading to Mexico to recue a girl/woman who is kidnapped by a drug cartel, and he has said that it will be bloody. :D

That ending is on the blu ray as the alternate ending.

Like we believe that one bullet could kill John Rambo. :D

Well really it's just the better of two evils.

Rambo IV came full circle....it saved the name after the shambles that was Rambo 3.
It realy should be left alone.

Keep going Sly, and keep it bloody.

Judging by what he has made recently and with the trailer for The Expendables looking really good. I don't think he'll be making anything even close to Rambo 3. He seems to have grown as a writer/director over the years.

Keep going Sly, and keep it bloody.

There's more to consider than just the quick fix of one violent film.
    There's way more at stake.

The whole Rambo name was muck for a long time.
People even sneered when they heard Rambo IV was in the works.

But low and behold, Rambo IV was amazing, it was even well written and well directed. But most importantly it had a great ending and brought the whole saga, including the title character, full circle. Rambo could finally be put to rest with his last appearance being a triumphant one.

Now he's jeopradising all of that.
