I read somewherer that the Fiesta 1.25 zetec is in a higher insurance band than the 1.3. The polo is a reliable car but the older 1 liter don't have power steering, they could do with it. Cheap insurance = seicento

    The best 1.0 L car is a 1.25 fiesta?

1.1 106 has very cheap insurance and doesnt look that bad either for a small car.

Is it? wouldn't a Seicento or even a Lupo be cheaper?

They'd be the same class of insurance though. Tbh, i think a lot of people get too hung up on this whole "1.0 Litre" thing. Anything from 1.0 to 1.3 would be roughly the same me thinks. Although naturally some cars will have loadings because of reputations, 1.3 Mitsubishi Colt, springs to mind as one.

1.0 still brings savings for insurance. even though some 1.2 models have less bhp than say a 68bhp 1.0 Yaris.

    A budget would be handy.

I'm not a huge Toyota fan but when it comes to a 1.0l car I'd go for the Yaris especially if it's going to be a few years old. They're the most c omfortable car of that type that I've driven plus that 3-D dash gets me every time! Why can't all cars have those?:)

And road tax too i guess. Its over 300€ now for a 1.2 yet only ~€170 for a 1.0

    is your friend:)

Micra's are a very good 1.0 car for not a lot of money. They command less money than a yaris but they are certainly as reliable and slightly more unisex, IMO, of course!:D

But it's in a different tax band. With the fiesta being close to twice the tax rate of a 1 litre.
There are still plenty of cars under 1k cc.
