Should I buy Improvement or Super Improvement???

I am buying new clubs in the next few weeks. I haven't played golf regularly in 15 years but wish to start up again. Went to the driving range and discovered I can still hit my irons pretty well.Got a lesson also and plan to get some more. I would say i have a handicap of around 22.
I did some research and was interested in buying some game improvement clubs. The clubs I have are 15 yrs old.
From asking around/reviews online,I have narrowed my choice down to :

Mizuno Mx 100 irons (maybe 200???)
    Nike Slingshot irons
    Nike Ignite irons
    TaylorMade Burner Plus irons
    Callaway Big Bertha Irons
    TaylorMade R7 CGB Max Irons
    Nike Sumo irons

Note sure about drivers, putters yet...suggestions welcome...

I have discovered now that there are super improvement golf clubs. I am confused as to which category i fall into, improvement or super improvement. As I said,I can still hit the ball pretty well,i'm a bit inconsistent but with practice and more lessons I'm thinking that i may not need the super improvement ones,or maybe i do...it's driving me mad....are improvement for handicaps under 20,and super improvement for over 20???
Are super improvement for total beginners?
Any help would be very welcome....

    Zak.

believe me,i've tried, but find it confusing...i just respect the views of people on this forum as they know what they're talking about and are very helpful...apart from the ones who give smart arse 4 word answers!

Any cavity backed irons are suitable for mid to high handicap (including beginners). The ones with more weight on the sole (broader sole) are generally better for high handicap as they will help to get the ball airborne and to keep it straight. Some sets will have progressive offset (the long irons will have the head a bit behind the shaft so that the head doesn't open through impact). However I'd avoid anything over a 5 iron and go for a hybrid instead.

    Hey Zak,

Know they're not on your list but I was in your position a while back and went for the Cobra s9s and have to say very happy with them.
Have a look here for reviews

Got a second hand set of graphite regular shafts on ebay for around 250

Cobras are a good set of irons as are Cleveland, Wilson........ MD Golf are local clubs and they are good value.

Another vote for the s9s added about 10 yards to my irons and far far fewer duff shots.

Get yourself along to somewhere and try them out.
The description of being like butter is accurate.
I'm used to them now but I remember the first while I couldn't get over the difference between them and my old clubs.
    Nice high ball flight too

Mizuno Mx-100 would fall under game improvement irons and they do exactly what they say! I've tried many clubs, cally x20 x22, cobra s9, macgreagor nvg2, ping g5 and g10. Mizunos iron feel is top of the list for me. I was a 25 handicap after changing from a claw grip and am now down to 17 in three months of playing.
Best thing to do is try all of them and see how your hitting each. Make sure they are all the same iron so you can compare e.g. 7 iron. Also to look out for in game improvers is confidence at address cause thats worth a few strokes too.
Best of look with the hunt but Mizunos worked for me :D

I also play with Cobra S9s and like them for the most part.

However I bought them with steel stiff shafts - My iron play is pretty inconsistent, and I was wondering could the shafts have a part to play in that?

I see that Alxmorgan has the same clubs in graphite regular. What difference would the shafts make to ball flight?

I'm a pretty strong guy, and swing reasonably fast.

I wouldn't select a club based on somebody else's experience. We are all different and what works for one person isn't just the dog's danglies for another. Having said that, most top makes of clubs are suitable for most people.

will definitely try the clubs out before i purchase as i'm aware that i can't fully go on a person's recommendation...hopefully at a range rather than hitting aginst some cloth in a shop...probably important to see the flight of the ball i'd imagine...
liking the sound of the mizuno mx100's and the cobra S9s...itching to hit the Nike Slingshots as they felt lovely to swing...
