    Hi,

I am looking for a social care job at the moment and I have gotten many rejection letters. I am wondering if my cv is no good.
It would be very helpful if people would have a look at my cv and tell me what I am doing wrong.

    Thank you

    After a quick scan:
    • The layout is horrible - find a nice CV template and use that instead
    • Inconsistent dating format, e.g. 25/09.05 versus 26/01/09 - this makes me think you don't have an eye for detail
    • You are listing your duties without mentioning any achievements. You are far more likely to impress people by stating things you improved/implemented rather than just a list of basic tasks.
    • Your CV is too long. Consider removing the irrelevant work. It's currently hard to see how much social work experience you have.

Can you upload an example of one of your cover letters?

    Ok, thanks.
I think the dates thing was just a thing that i missed, that is why it is nice if someone looks over the cv.
Would there be any templates you would suggest?
So do you think I should only leave the work experience that relates to social care work?

I have attached the cover letter I normally use.

Try the Elegant Resume template in Word.

Your cover letter is fine. Try to find out the name of the person who will be looking at the CVs instead of using "Dear Sir/Madam". It'll make your application stand out. But in general it's a good letter. :)

Use one of Word's templates for your CV. They're fairly standard.

The non-social work experience you have - perhaps just list the job title and exclude any of the tasks, so the job is just a one liner...

OP - try and get your CV down to two pages maximum and really, really, really improve on your current layout.

We don't really use the Euro Pass format in Ireland, but thanks for posting anyway.

    Hi,

I'm new to this forum but to the OP I would suggest removing or requesting the cv to be removed - or at least edit out some of the personal details and referee information maybe.

I'd be a bit concerned about having that level of detail on here

I would do this as well if I was you. You could put in 'Company x' etc instead.

When applying for Social Care jobs etc you could remove the details for the other work like Waitressing in order to cut it down in size. Also I think you need to reconsider you list of responsibilities for the Social Care jobs. I know Social Care workers and from reading your CV you seem to be talking down your role and/or describing it in lay mans terms which I think comes across as unprofessional.

I'll look at the cv in Word some other time so I can comment on the layout.

Mod note: I know this thread is a bit old, but I have nonetheless removed the CV from the initial post.

Seriously people, please don't post personal information on the internet, especially something as detailed as a CV. Use your common sense.

As a side note, don't forget the Report Posts button (small red triangle). It will get moderator's attention quicker.
