Wedge Advice

So I'm changing my two wedges because I need longer ones. I was going to just automatically buy the below, as I haven't picked up anything that rivals the Vokeys, but thought I'd post first to see if anyone has any alternative thoughts.

I've matched the shafts to those of my irons. One degree upright is probably plenty. As regards bounce, I'm a digger in recovery (/denial). I do play mostly parkland, and can definitely get a little steep, but I'm working on it and don't want to opt for too high a bounce.

    54 & 58
    Vokey SpinM Tour Chrome
    medium bounce
    Project X 6.0
    1 degree upright
    +half inch

    Anyone got any better ideas?

Honestly dont see anything comparing to them, especially given that you have used these already and are very happy with them. I use Mizuno and love them so I guess its all choice.
If you where to change I am sure it would take you a little while to adjust to them, how much would that hurt your game ????

    Stick to what works !!

Stick to low (4 degrees) on a 58/60, may be a little sharp in wet conditions but great for tight lies and slicing through rough.

8 degrees on the 54 should be perfect and versatile.

Be careful on the shafts though, wedge shafting is slightly different so I'd take some professional advise on that one. Stiff rifles may change the workability of the clubs completely.

I agree to match shafts, however my advive on bounce would be to have your lob wedge with little or no bounce and at least 10deg on your sw. this will give you huge versatility with bunker play, you can allow the sand/lie to dictate which is best. Fluffy sand-sw wet crappy sand-lw. same aplies for grass too. thats my setup anyway! 57.5 deg 0 bounce(its a 4deg shaved down to 0) And 53.5 deg 10bounce.

Ps if you go down the 0 bounce route you would always need to play the lw from grass a loiitle open faced to stop the duffs.......

I agree with this, I have 12deg bounce on my 56 and 4deg bounce on my 60 so it gives a good choice from different types of sand.

Yeah, I've heard the high & low theory done by a few guys but to be honest Gorfield, very low bounce has never suited me in general. While it makes sense on paper, in reality I've never hit low bounce wedges well.

My home course suits plenty of bounce, and I don't overly struggle on links. Maybe if I get into a c'ship or two in the next couple of years I'll need something sharper but for now I think mid bounce would be optimum?

one thing with the shafts, don't match the shaft to your irons. Get the Dynamic Gold wedge flex, you can get special shafts for wedges

I have 3 vokey SpinM myself but I've heard a lot of rumours that the reason the price is dropping is cos they're looking to ban them - I don't know if there's any truth in this but worth checking....

When is the rule change with the grooves coming in lads?? Will it still be possible to buy current wedge models brand new from mcguirks, halpenny etc. when the change comes into effect? or will wedges with the current grooves just become obsolete?

What are you basing this on? I currently have the wedge flex. It's a different golf club to my PW from the set. It makes little odds chipping and pitching IMO, at my level at least, but hitting the SW 100+ yards is certainly inconsistent with swinging the next club up.

There's differing opinions at the top level - some guys going much stiffer than their irons, Greg Norman reportedly had ladies flex wedges for a time. But regardless, I think it makes sense to match up.

Check out the R&A site for the facts on this.

As far as I can read in that article 2024 for our level. Open to correction on that but thats my understanding of it
