Hi there, I would be so happy if you guys could help me out here.

For the last 9 months I have been out of work. The week before last I was blessed to get a job. Delighted wasn't a big enough word for how I felt. Its in a sector that isnt very stable but I was so happy to be able to get a wage again.

Anyway 3 days into the job I was informed that there was not enough work for me and would be let go at the end of the week along with 8 other existing employees. I was aware that I was an employee of the recruiting agency who sub contracted me into the position I was in. So it was the recruitment agency who paid my wage for the week.

dont get me started on why I was offered a position when there wasn't enough work for me. This particular company offered me a position before also only to fail to get clearance from head office leaving me stranded. Anyway I digress.

My issue is, I never signed off the social welfare. Theres nowt dodgy to it at all. I just presumed when I didnt collect this week they would cut me off. I didnt think id only get 3 days, i was promised this position up to 31st december. Can I just resume collecting my dole as I have been? I only worked 3 days and would hate to wait another 3-4 months before I get payment again.

Will they know any different?? or will i have paid tax at all for the 3 days making it noticeable to the social welfare without me knowing?

im so worried, im devastated about my job and i need the money.

please help with some advice if ye can. thanks a million

I cant see a problem with this to be honest, it wasnt as if your were collecting your payment while working, maybe you should pop down to your local office just to tell them your story just in case there is any confusion.

    Hi Strongbow,
Revenue and social welfare are very closely linked and share information automatically.
The fact that you worked and paid tax will be made known to social welfare.
I certainly would not worry about it though but would call or visit your local s/w office asap to let them know the story.
Maybe, if queques are huge, you could put something in wrtitng, dated and drop it into their letterbox.

S/W don't want this added complication any more than you.

    Good luck.

    thanks for the info.

Would it be possible just to collect as normal though? without going down to the SW office? I just know well they will make me make a new claim and wait ages for back payment. They will prob look for my new p45 and letter from employer as to why I was let go etc....

If I keep quiet is there a chance I might get just keep getting paid as per normal??
