Decide before you build not during

Try to frame your options here as questions - it will be easier to assist you then

Depending on the size of the extension, why not have both? Single/double glazed doors with long thin windows at the side.

As for the washing machine/dryer, again, depends on the size and layout of your plans. But as sinnerboy said, best to sort these things out before the work starts

The extension will be approx 14 ft square. Should I leave utility room and toilet where tyey are which would mean they would be a block about 5 ft wide by 7ft long for utility room and outside that the small toilet .they would be a block within the square if I leave them where they are

My second option is to move utility room and toilet outside the 14 ft square

My third option is to have utility room as a block within the square and to have toilet outside the square

I also have to decide whether I will have a sloping roof with velux windows or a A shaped roof with velux windows. My neighbour on the left has a two storey extension which means I would have to have a valley where the 2 rrrfs would be meeting I have a valley in the front of the house which leaks in heavy rain.I like the idea of the A roof as it would give a great sense of space but should I be afraid of a leaking valley

Just on the washing machine I would put it in a ulity room if possible nothing worse than eating your dinner and a noisey washing machine going in the background.
