Does anyone know if the 1998 z3 roadster has traction control? My car is great to drive even tho its a 1.9,, not into track days so the 1.9 does me fine, plus it looks good n sexy.
But i cant seem to find a tc button on it, but i have read conflicting reviews on it, some say ti has tc and others say it doesnt..
Either way its my second baby,,other beamer is a 3 series.

I'd be surprised if it did, TBH. Maybe find a very wet road and try to spin the wheels?

im sure it does but i cant be 100% sure,, i had a few coupes that had it and i didnt knwo it till i sold em.
Wheels didnt actually spin when i took off,, n i gave it a good bit of welly...took turn at 60mph and the back didnt even attempt to slide out, road wasnt overly wet but it was wet enough.

I guess we'll have to wait for someone with a definite answer, but in the meantime I would have guessed even a base Z3 had traction control. Traction control was standard in the '96 5-series...

The 5 series was 6 cylinder only at that time though, wasn't it? Was it switchable in the 5? In any case, dumping the clutch at 5000rpm from a standstill on a wet road should answer the question.

Wikipedia seems to say that traction control was standard equipment from 1997. OP - do you have the manual?

Not sure what the number of cylinders has to do with having traction control, but yes, all 5 series (E39) BMWs have at least 6 cylinders and the 1.9 Z3 has only 4 cylinders. The traction is indeed switchable in the 5.

Don't forget to turn the steering wheel while doing so :D

I drove a 98 Z3 2.8 and that had it, I was thinking that it may have been standard on 6 cylinder cars. The age of the car, the lack of a switch and the fact that it's a 1.9 make me think that the OP's car probably doesn't have TC. All guesswork on my part, though.

It should be called ASC if memory serves me correctly...

The E46's of the same year with the same engine would of had ASC, so i'm not sure why the Z3 wouldn't....

Although i know a lot of the Z3 were based on E36 components (with E30 rear end) so i'm not sure....
