Better Display options Mac Mini Media Centre Snow Leopard

I have a Mac Mini under my TV as a media centre and just upgraded to Snow Leopard. Setting the display options was always a bit messy for this use but now there's new presets, e.g. 720p, 1080i, 1080p etc. Way to go Apple!

That's good to hear - I gave my old Mini to my dad but I've been missing it terribly and thinking of getting a new one to use as a media center with Plex. Nice to see improvements for that kind of use.

Plex is de business all right, if only I could find something similar for the ps3/xbox/xbox360 I'm streaming to!

XBMC can only be installed on the original Xbox - and as a result, it's hardly as useful as Plex on a Mac is, as it can't play any of the HD formats, etc.

Dont be at yourself

When using Plex on my mac mini connected to an Epson 720p projector, I had to turn off overscan (it's somewhere in display preferences).

It was on by default when installing, meaning that the top of the screen was cut off, making it difficult to access Disk Utility...

XBMC is available on OS X. One of the reasons Plex split from the XBMC project was because the developers wanted to make it more OS X like.

I know. I've been using Plex forever, since it was a lot closer to XBMC. My reply has to do with Enda1's reply to GaryCocs:

Great to have 1080 on my MacMini, but text is far to small when I tried to use the OS. Plex works fine because its designed for that viewing distance.

Just put mediastream on the xbox, absolutely class!!! Now all I need is the same for the brothers xbox 360 and my ps3 downstairs and I will be ready to take over the world!!!!

Doesn't exist for the 360 or the PS3 unfortunately . That's what I've been trying to say all along...

Ya got that all right, reckon I'll go away and see if I can get a few xboxes off people, I'm sure they'll sell em cheap enough??
