Is there an option to do a format under system settings?

You should be able to delete the users. I'm not talking about your PSN ID, but your User ID (You can set this up for everyone who uses the Playstation), which isn't related to PSN.

Sign in with your username (jomz27) I guess, when the ps3 starts up, and press triangle, select delete.

If thats not working, create another user (user1 by default), and try the above again...

Well it will delete it off the system, but it's not gone forever. When you get your new ps3 you can sign in with your usual psn account.

no bother, if you wanna wipe any remaining info off the ps3, go to system - format (use all for ps3) - quick format.
