Longest Advertising Break

30-08-2009 1:29pm#1I recently got a UPC Digital + box installed - you know the one; pause live TV, etc. It's great, I love it, series link recording, etc.
One thing I've noted, now that I can pause advertising breaks, is the length of these. I knew they were getting longer but was never anal enough to time them; now with the box I've seen advt breaks of 7 mins on Alibi. This is long enough to make tea, make toast & have a c**p
The Irish stations do not seem so bad, usually less than 4 mins (we do have licensing fees after all)
Has anybody else noticed the length of breaks? Is there a guideline on this or are we going to end up watching snippets of TV between ad breaks as per US?
