OKay, find the size of the container the drink is sold in (say, a can), multiply it by the percentage volume, and divide by the price to find the best value!

Druids Cider: 6%, 1.50 a can. Alcohol per Euro: 20ml
    Stonehouse: 6%, 1.32 a can. Alcohol per Euro: 22ml
Bulmers: 4.5%, 2E ish a can. Alcohol per Euro: 11.25ml (ouch)
Dutch Gold: 4.2%, 1.25 a can. Alcohol per Euro: 16.8ml
Huzzar Vodka: 37.5%, 7E a naggin. Alcohol per Euro: 10.7ml (more ouch)
Glens Vodka: 37.5%, 5.50 a naggin. Alcohol per Euro: 13.6ml
Tesco Vodka: 37.5%, 7.50 a shoulder. Alcohol per Euro: 17.5ml
Tesco Cider: 4.6%, 3.20 for 2L. Alcohol per Euro: 28.75ml (Hell yeah)

OP, you idea for a thread is much too complicated to be taken seriously!
Not that anything's every taken seriously here, for starters.

    Ireland's cheapest drink?

Tap water! - and you can have as much as you like ;)

Even if it tastes disgusting, it's still free!

A lot of alcohol is disgusting and you'd pay a small fortune for it :P

Actually, the tesco Cider tastes exactly like Stonehouse-cheap and horrific, but far far far from undrinkable

Tesco had 12% wine 750ml for €4, that's 22.5 ml for a euro and it tasted fine.

Where can one get hollandia still? Not seen that stuff in ages, not noticed it in Tescos, Dunnes, Centras etc.. €1 a can sounds quite good so I'd be interested to know if its still going

Couldn't be arsed calculating but Frosty Jacks cider. 7.5% in a 3ltr bottle for €3.75. Sure it might taste like Quasimodo's sock juice but when you on a college budget theres nothing better.

I think you've got the wrong idea about alcohol, OP. And yet we wonder why our country has a bad name...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,251 ✭✭✭The Walsho

I think I have the answer. For the next week Lidl are doing some German Pils (Perlenbacher) 4.9% at €4.99 for 6 x 500ml bottles.

So that's 4.9%, 83c a bottle (always nice than a can). Alcohol per Euro: 29.5ml

    And it's probably decent.

    You're welcome.

    1) Get in car
    2) Drive to Enniskillen/Newry/Other border towns
    3) Fill your fridge.

My house looks like an off licence at the minute, cheap and cheerful.

The frostie jacks mentioned without the numbers:

    60ml/euro is appears
    3000ml (3 litres), 7.5% alcohol = 225ml ethanol / 3.75 = 60ml.

Just posting how I worked it out in case I made some stupid mistake, seems a bit hard to believe it's twice as good value for getting pissed. (But I'm sure the taste makes up for that)

Personally I only drink booze that has been filtered through the purest eh.... diamond studded eh... filters and then funneled through a high-grade stainless steel funnel into a bottle of pure gold and rubies and then sold in a teak box lined with velvet with a certificate of authenticity so this thread doesn't really hold any relevance for me.

But still..... Jaysus 1 euro a can for Hollandia. That's savage value altogether!
