    Hey Guys,

My problem is lack of motavation.. last year i was going well on the bike and in good shape. winter came i keep getting the miles in abd the same into the start of this season but then i took a fall and broke my collar bone:( so i was laid up but with the best of intentions of getting straight back on the bike asap. but that time has long came and i'm still sitting on my ass! i think part of the prob is the taughts of starting from scratch again! i'm not in a club which i think would help. i posting here to see if anyone out there has had the same problem?? and what to do (i know get on the f**kin bike)

    Cheers in advance

I think we may be in a similar boat.....not in a club myself either - family and work commitments. This year I plan on doing fewer training sessions per week (4) and adding more structure to them. so far am less tired and the sessions are of better quality

Also and more importantly get a goal. For me it'll be the TOI. Also want to do a few sportives abroad.

    Good luck with it.

tsamba, I knew once the summer came I would be spending sod all time on the bike.Wife off work (I suppose you will be gone for hours......),kids off school, hols, work etc. Cant wait for Tues. Wife back at work and kids back at school
As ryder said set yourself a goal.
    Are you in Dublin?
If so why not set the Swords Sportive at the end of Sept. Agood few weeks to get a bit of fitness and let the bug bite again?

I was dying of self pity early in the year after a series of crashes and ended up giving up cycling more or less, only to return in late summer and regain a decent level. First things first, it is what it is so stop pitying yourself.

    Now you can move on.

Pick short term goals, not long term just yet. Pick a couple of sportifs. Aim to hang in with the fastest group you can. Work from there, that should take you into autumn with enough fitness to train for the winter so you can mix it up with the best of them and put the opposition to the sword come spring. Oh yeah, try to ride with riders better than yourself, not worse. It will be good for your legs (if not your ego).

Good man. Now there are a good few Sportif rides in September. Pick one and aim to do around 100k at one of those. Finish out the season on a high, it will help you keep the faith for the long winter...

Guys, if the Tour of Ireland sportive is a goal for you email the organisers now and tell them you are interested. It was the best thing I have done on a bike but it may not be going ahead next year due to money issues including this year being undersubscribed.

I would love to do it again next year myself.
