Hi Guys, I am training for the Adidas half marathon in a few weeks,. Training is going v.well but I am used to running in tthe evenings and find morning runs a struggle. I did the Adiidas 5-miler (had to miss the 10-mile due to illness) and found it absolutely excruciating, even though I have ran longer races anin the evening and found them vmanageable. Anyone else feel the same? Any tips?

Are you eating a big meal late in the evening? A big dinner in the evening leaves me flat for running in the morning.
The body though works better in the evening anyway as we are more loosened up etc.

I'm also extremely nocturnal (about 10 minutes out of the bed at the moment and I mostly run at night) but I don't have a huge problem with being up early for races. I've found it helpful to make sure I get a good shower before I head out (not too warm because that just makes you sleepy) and to make sure I get a big cup of coffee before the race at some point, preferably with my breakfast.

Do you eat a breakfast?. If not get up a bit earlier and have something light about 90mins before you intend to run. Porridge with a t-spoon of honey mixed in and some fruit can help.

IM The same i work odd hours and find i run at night a lot even at 11pm, but today i was up early for a run (7am, first time trying this) eat half a bannana and some water, did 5 miles but at the 4mile mark i had to stop to get sick... can anyone tell me why this happened as it hasnt happened me before? would i be better running slower in the mornings? Or not eating or drinking before i had out? i have no problem with the morning races but i would be up 2 hours before so maybe thats why..
    Thanks

Yeah I'm convinced it's related to the length of time you've been up before you go for the run.
I have the same problem. I'm a morning person, but I can't run in mornings, I only ever feel good running in the afternoon and evenings. It's really frustrating as I'd love to do my training in the mornings, but can't. I'd love to go for a run at 7, before work, but that'd mean getting up at 5!
