Would you rather go bald or go grey???

I thought going grey would win hands down, but a lot of people have said they would rather go bald!!

For me...im gonna pick goin grey!!

Nothing against any baldies out there but I reckon I couldnt pull off the whole Kojak look, although it does suit some people.

Im going quite grey at the moment but will never ever go bald. There isnt a single bald man on either side of my family.

I dont actually mind the greys.Women have complemented me on them before.(Moms count, right? :pac:)

If I had a choice I would defo pick greying though.I was a skinhead for many years and looking back now,I realise it didnt really suit me.

Grey. And I'm finding the little bastards too often for my liking.

There's only so much ruffling my hair I can do before they're seen :(

If you shave your head like I do daily you'll never know whether you're bald or grey - and by shaving I mean razors and not clippers.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,968 ✭✭✭✭Praetorian Saighdiuir

The weirdest thing I have noticed is a solitary bright white hair popping out of my nose every now and again!! I have to pull the fu*ker out everytime I see it!!

    Grey.

    Lots of it now. :(

    No sign of thinning, though.

    Getting "bic'd"....good man!

Going Grey wouldn't bother me at all. I would prefer not go bald, but if it happens I'll just invest in hair clippers.

I kept my head shaved for the last four years or so until recently so I reckon I'd look alright bald, have the right head shape for it :pac:

    I love being bald:cool::cool::cool:.

I have the full Kojak look. Thing is, I use to have a big mop of red hair, Rick Astley style, and I use to say "you never see a bald or gray red headed man". Then my hair fell out in my early/mid 20's. I was shocked at first but grew to love it. But now its starting to notice some gray if I dont shave it for more than 2 days, even noticed some gray chest hairs:eek:.

    ah well.

I'm not bald - I just shave my head.

Grey. Which I was told was really "showing" lately. :(

    Will never dye it either.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,739 ✭✭✭✭starbelgrade

TBH, it all just depends on the guy... some look good bald / shaved, some look good grey foxed - some look nasty with a full head of non-greyed hair.

Some even look good with hair plugs (as long as you don't go overboard, like Duncan Ballentine)... it's not what you got but what you do with it that counts.

Shaved my head, once. Never again. So its grey over bald for me any day.

Bic? No thanks, am more than happy with a Dovo or Merkur and a badger brush!

Have to say that I got dealt a good hand on the hair thing.

I'm 41 now & not much signs of baldness.
Not much snow on the roof either.

Some people are now accusing me of dyeing it.:eek::eek:

Some grey there if you look closely enough though.

Always hated the idea of going bald as none of the blokes in my family are.
Dad is 75 now & still sporting a good tuft.

The grey thing isn't a problem for me at this stage.
If only not to be accused of using hair-dye!

Sneacta heads are warmer.....baldies feel the cold!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 805 ✭✭✭suey71

Damn right they feel the cold. I also feel the first drops of rain long before anyone else can.

As for my Dad, he has a full head of white hair, but both of my Grandads where baldies. It seems to skip a generation, so I guess your kids will be baldies.:D.

I'm bald and I can shave, but there is still a stigma attached to dyeing your hair if its going gray.

I wonder how many of you badgers will dye your hair if you go gray? and if you do, will you admit it?

There is something honest about a man that shaves his head when he's going bald. Its like, here I am. I'm bald and I shave my head and I don't care what anyone says.

But if you are going gray and you dye it, oooooooooooooh.
And if someone asks the dreaded question, DO YOU DYE YOUR HAIR? and you say NO. ooooooooooooh.

I know this is a stupid way of looking at it, and I think that guys with gray hair should be able to dye it. but at the moment I don't think its socially acceptable yet, sadly.

Bald by choice or bald by nature?

Did I not see a pic of you in tLL with a mop of hair?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 111 ✭✭maherro

Grey FTW, but the genes in my family lean toward the dreaded B word!

Little from column A.....little from column B. :D Ah, mostly I still have my hair. I just don't like hair or the complications involved with it.

You must have been dreaming. I may have been horribly unshaven. The longest my hair gets is about half a centimetre (honestly, I feel positively hippyish at that point). There's a pic of me on the "armageddon" thread in the self defence / martial arts forum. You'll get a good idea for how long my hair is today. :)

Most women I know (incl. myself) prefere men who are grey to men who are bald by choice or not.

So go for grey guys! :D

I think we should start a list of the best looking male stars, alive or dead, that are bald and proud. and another list of male stars that are grey and proud. This way we can all see that the bald stars far outway the gray stars in the Icon stakes and the looks stakes.

    Here we go.

    1. Yul Brynner.

Definitely grey over bald. Takes confidence to be proud of grey hair. Kinda sexy.

From a female perspective, I don't think either look bad.

Some guys with grey hair can be sexy, like George Clooney. Some bald guys can be very attractive too!

I don't think it's something that men should fear too much, it's part of life and it's natural.

A lot of guys look better as they age! :)

Maybe. If I keep on improving at this rate, I'll be an absolute roide by the time I'm 90.

I've got a reseeding hair line i think it adds to my handsomeness :cool:I embrace it as part of my natural beauty

Grey, i dont like the shape of my head.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,368 ✭✭✭Smart Bug

I've gone grey at 29, which = no play.

Not too bad, but what really sucks is I can't grow a beard (my entire chin turns white) 'cos it makes me look about 45.

Edit: my 1000th post is a complaint about my grey hair. Fekkit.

Started losing it during my early 20ies. I shave it now every 4 to 6 weeks. If i had a choice I'd go grey, thats the truth really.

    I'm 35

I would definitely prefer to go grey, though that may be influenced by the fact that I'm 21 and am going to have to start shaving the head soon. :(

I'd rather go grey, but I've no choice in the matter, as I'm going bald :(

So, I just shave it off every so often.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,382 ✭✭✭petes

I started to go bald when I was 19 :(. Shave it maybe twice to three times a week with a razor.

I actually prefer it now when it's shaved.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,905 ✭✭✭✭Handsome Bob

Bald, because I'm bald already. :pac: I'm happy most of the time, there are times when you see some great hairstyles and you feel a pang, but being bald doesn't dent my confidence.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,656 ✭✭✭norrie rugger

I picked grey, only because I have a couple of scars on my head, from a mispent youth, rugby and martial arts.

Other than that I could not give a **** TBH

I remember looking at that filum 'Back To The Future'

The Doc, in the 1950s was obsessed with new technology & ostracised by his entire community because of this.
His whole life was devoted to time travel & self deniall!

Marty McFly takes him 30 years into the future & what does the fooker do first?

He finds the nearest mirror, looks at himself, & says 'I've still got my hair. I'm so delighted'

    Priorities.
