in the present climate, thier is no reason you cant big up a decent bus at that money , while its not as easy to browse as it used to be , carzone is the best website for cars or jeeps

€3,500 for an 89 pajero is a total ripoff.

Are you looking for a commercial or passanger vehicle?

I'd second the Fourtrack, but if I was you I'd give the Freelander above a wide berth!

Look for a Ford Ranger or a Mazda B2500 on the uk autotrader..they're a good pick up and they go for reasonable money.

i personally wouldnt have a ford or mazda jeep if i got it for free, no offence meathstevie

for 3500k i would expect upto a 2001 landcruiser, or a 3.1 trooper that was in as new condition ,with low milage test ,tax, and, one stretch to 2 prev owners, i wou7ldnt trust anyother jeep, the above is all ever i had time for as they never let me down, but i could tell stories all day long about mitsubishi, ford, and the rest ,

i've an offer of €2,500 ona '00 fourtrak, with 85,000 miles, the body is a bit rough though.
i'm also looking at a '97 pajero with 90,000 miles on the clock, it's a 2.8 diesel but she's automatic. i'm unsure about buying an auto to be honest but it's immaculate, he's looking for €3,500.

automatics are harder on juice and they are bing drinkers when toeing anything , on the plus side , they are much nice to drive

Agreed Landcruisers are trouble free. Pajeros are known for blowing head gaskets.

dont buy 3.0 litre trooper,,, only the 3.1 litre.. as 3.0 is bad.very bad will cost a fortune if it goes wrong,,, it can leak diesel internally in to the sump.... common problem with the 3.0... 3.1 ok

automatics are certainly not better off road than manuals , i have an auto and it isnt great off road as its too slow to drop a gear , with a manual , you the driver dictates the pace

that said , i perfer automatics

The problems with the 3.0 litre troopers were pretty much sorted after 01. I've a 02 with close to 150K miles on it and all I've ever done to it was a new set of injectors which were done under warranty, a clutch, and an air flow sensor. A friend of mine also had a 02 that he put over 200K miles on and he didn't have much trouble either, he replaced a turbo and that was about it. As long as you keep them services every 6K miles and use the right engine oil they're pretty solid and a great jeep to pull.

Ill agree to disagree the abilty to changer gear without loosing momentum is the key factor(specially in low box) Note why tractor use them these day. If your in mudy ground you can keep the wheels turning and the foot on the gas while changing gear.. In a manual you cant and if in very muddy condition nine times out of 10 the mud will stop you in your tracks.(when in diffaculty).. All comp off roaders use auto boxs.. Im building one at present and it will have one..

A good example check out the second truck..

If it was manual it wouldnt have got up that hill he would have lost momentum..while trying to change gear!!!

If your auto has a sport setting this tends to speed up the process maybe thats why you are slow to change down.. Is your kick down working?? Sorry for going off topic...
