I was thinking of going back to College to do a BComm in Galway. Basically I want to start a new life, going to Galway would get me for a while and then when I'm finished I would be able to leave. Has anyone here ever emigrated after doing a BComm and where did you go?

Where do you want to emmigrate to?

There are literally tens of thousands of degree educated people thinking about emmigrating because they cannot find work.

Emmigration is not as rosey as it was even 12 months ago.I personally know scores of people that have returned from Canada,Australia and the States because they couldnt get a job, even waiting tables or bar work.

At this stage,a degree isnt really worth the paper its written on.

Im not trying to poo poo your plans, but you have to look at it realistically.

I'm 25 I was actually thinking of returning to College next year so it would still be a few years before I finish. I basically want a new start somewhere else, I was just wondering would a B.Comm be a way to do it?

why do you think having a degree is the only way to emigrate? If your looking for as new start why not just go? A lot could happen in the few years while your getting degree (i.e. meeting someone, falling in love, being offered a dream job, pregancy? etc....)

I dont mean to be funny, but if you want to go....then go. You could always work on a degree while your away etc

I would disagree with that in some ways. First, going back to college is never a bad choice. It's education for you and yourself only. You get a piece of paper at the end. But this piece says you did something, regardless of its significance.
Second, emigrating is not a bad idea considering the opportunity to learn something about other people's habits and ways of doing things. Regarding jobs opportunity, it is not difficult either. You just need to know where exactly the jobs are.
To do so, you need to have an overall view of the job market. Don't just consider countries where most people go. To make a story short, go here http://www.economy.com/dismal/map/default.asp?src=economist

Having this sorted means you can make better choice for your career.
