Oily skin after shaving - use alcohol?

I use a sensitve nivea balm after I shave and maybe a bit of moisteriser aswell to sooth the skin but after a few hours my skin is very oily especially on my forehead which is strange? after a day of not shaving and with stuble oil is gone and my skin is well balanced.

I read that using an alcohol based splash on or aftershave drys out the skin, could this be just what I need to use instead of balm?

The Nivea Sensitive AS balm is one of the lighter products and shouldn't leave your skin feeling greasy if you use sparingly. Try using on it's own
without adding the second moisturiser you mention.

Unless you're shaving your forehead you can also try using less or none on that part of your head.

Clinique's post shave healer is one of the lightest balms I've tried. Or have a look at Boot's Botanics skin recovery serum.

Try using Aloe Vera instead of balm for a few shaves and see what happens.

DONT! use alcohol on your skin !!
its probably just the moisturuser is too heavy for your skin, use a lighter oil free moisturises for combination skin !

Lol, I don't think he meant pure/rubbing alcohol, just an alcohol based aftershave cream ;)

Witch hazel. No grease, no allergy, and cheap.

dont think anyone is stupid enough to splash alcohol all over their face after shaving. if they did it may end up as a case of . . . .

    burn, baby, burn

Alcohol is bad because it dries out the skin. Try a skin food, such as Trumpers, no alcohol and very light i.e. no oils.

Sounds like you just have oily skin, irrespective of your shaving routine, as you say that your forehead is especially oily. Alternatively, it could be the moisturiser/products you are using. IMO the Nivea for Men sensitive moisturiser (small white container) results in a quite oily effect on the skin when it's used. I've tried a number of different moisturisers and I've always found that the Nivea sensitive one to leave the skin quite oily- maybe it's because Nivea view "sensitive skin" as dry skin, or skin that needs a lot of protection. I've also used the Nivea Rehydrating moisturiser (using it at the moment actually) and it certainly hasn't left my skin as oily as the sensitive version. Although, having said that, everyone's skin is different, so what might work for one person might not work for another. It might be a good idea to try a few different moisturisers/aftershave balms and see which type suit you.

I can't really comment on the Nivea Aftershave Balm as it's so long since I used.

What sort of face wash do you use? The Clinque for Men extra strength face wash is quite good- it should clear up any oily skin, if that is the root cause of the problem.
