Vietnam Visa

I'm going to be in Vietnam in a few months and obviously need a visa. Does anyone know the best way to go about applying for one?

I've downloaded the application form but it says I've to post it to London along with my passport... which I'm a little wary of.

Can you apply for the visa from other countries? I'll be in India and China before Vietnam.

From Dublin by the way, cheers!

You can do it through trailfinders but they will charge you €100 for the privilege and send your passport off to London on your behalf. Not sure about those countries but Bangkok appears to be a popular place to get your visa for Vietnam.

I got the Vietnam visa a few years ago by filling out the app form and sending it and my passport to London no problem at all, think it took about 2 weeks from the send date to the date I got it back. Always a little scary posting your passport away but just use registered post to put your mind at ease and it's no problem really.

Call into the China embassy in Ballsbridge for that, only takes a few days, I called in first thing in the morning and only took a few mins to hand in your application and passport, takes them 3-4 days to process and you can either get it couriered or collect it yourself.

You may be able to get it from china. I got mine in thailand. It cost 40 euros via a travel agency who send someone to the embassy for you. Took a few days was only downside and yould have to know people who did the same with the travel agent to be on the safe side.

    Hi
I went to Vietnam about a year ago and through browsing around the net for ideas on where to go a chap recommended a guy in Vietnam that ran his own company (http://www.vexploretravel.com/) he said he had been to Vietnam 5-6 times and went through all sorts of travels agents and this guy was the best.

i took him up on his advise and it was the best holiday i ever had, he organised everything, we told him where we wanted to go, how much we wanted to pay for accommodation etc and he got us prices 10-20% cheaper than the rates from the web.

But best of all, like you we had a nightmare regards the visa's but he organised it all from there, we simply supplied him with full names, sex, D.O.B, passport
Number, issued date & expiry date - Nationality, date of arrival, detail of arrived flight.
And the charges are US$35/pax + US$25/pax for stamping fee - Total US$60/pax for 2 months Single entry and Multi visa entry US$25/pax more (payment sent via bank transfer)

2 days later we had a email with a scanned visa document and all we needed to do was print it out and bring it along with 2 pictures on the plane.
We where then met at the airport and walked passed all the queues and through immigration within minutes.

A few fiends have since used him for there Vietnam trips and all have reported no problems.

By the way they also Laos and Cambodia and organised flights and visas for Cambodia for us too

If you would like the contact details let me know

Apologies if I’ve rambled on :)

Hi Todd / anyone esle who can help!

Any chance you could tell me how much a vietnam visa costrs from Dublin. The embassey in the uk haven't got back to me!

Also how does the postage work. Do I add on the amount they say (think £6) to my overall bank draft, and just send an envelope with my address on it.

    Any advice much appreciated!

You have to add £5 to the total cost of the visa. Give them a ring to find out how much to send them. I think mine was about €70.

    Hi Juanace,

It was £38GBP when i got one bit over a year ago, I too wasn't able to get in contact with them despite emails and trying to ring so i just googled it and through forums and stuff the price had been £38 a month or two beforehand so i just presumed that and added on the postage cost and set a sterling draft for the total.

So yeah just get a draft and send it for the visa cost (which to the best of my knowledge is still £38) plus the postage with a self addressed envelope inside and the app form. If you can't get in touch with them send it away asap so if there is any problem and they send it back without the visa you can still get it in time. Took about a fortnight to get mine back.
