Does anyone know how much extra a service provider will get through the ECCE scheme for having a Montessori teacher with fetac level 8?

I would really like to know so that I can present the info to my boss as a reason to increase my salary!
    I would appreciate anyones advice!

There needs to be a teacher with a level 8 and another with a level 5 in order to get the €74.50 per child allowance. Otherwise its €64.50. Thats how I understand it...

They don't get more for having a level 8 qualified member of staff.

From the terms and conditions of the ECCE:
Pre-school year Leaders must hold a certification for a major award in childcare/early education at a minimum of level 5 on the National Framework of Qualifications of Ireland (NFQ) or an equivalent nationally recognised qualification or a higher award in the childcare/early education field.

so to be a supervisor you only need a minimum of Fetac level 5. There is no pay gradient in childcare so a person on Fetac level 5 could easily be getting the same as a person with a level 8 qualification. It's up to the owner.

The following is a list of the FETAC levels

    Title
    Awarding Body
    NFQ Level
    Certificate in Childcare
    FETAC
    NFQ Level 5
    Certificate in Childcare
    FETAC (NCVA)
    NFQ Level 5
    Childcare Practitioner Traineeship
    FETAC (FÁS)
    NFQ Level 5
    Advanced Certificate in Childcare Supervision
    FETAC
    NFQ Level 6
    Supervision in Childcare
    FETAC (NCVA)
    NFQ Level 6
    Childcare Supervisor
    FETAC (FÁS)
    NFQ Level 6

    taken from
    http://www.omc.gov.ie/documents/publications/Child_Care_Pre-_School_Services_Regs_2006.pdf

The table clearly shows that it's only at FETAC level 6 that you study to be a Childcare Supervisor so FETAC leve 5 should not be the minimum. In the original plans FETAC level 6 was the minimum but there was a huge backlash to this as a large portion of childcare supervisors/owners are at FETAC level 5 and did not see why they would have to retrain at their own cost to get to level 6.

I found this thread while searching for "NFQ Levels"...

I was wondering what they were about... wow this seems very strict...
I did a course (not child care related) that turned out to be awarded by a UK institute who didn't bother to register it on the UK or Irish framework and I feel like its worthless
