Has anyone acquired concrete proof that the Infac safes meet the required standards?

I know an email from Duffys said they would put info on their site, but I don't see anything of the kind unless I'm looking in the wrong place.

I never received a reply to my email to Infac.

Anyone out there more clued in?

    ATB,

    John

Any of the UK cabinets safe would be built to BS 7558/92 as they have to to past muster with UK Firearms Officers etc.
The rest of them as in US made or European made will have to comply with a similiar standard, one that gives the same level of protection or greater. I havent done a search but maybe the BS 7558/32 has been transposed as an EN standard or there is an equivalent US standard.

If I was going out to buy a safe tomorrow because the SI says BS 7558/92, then I personally would only buy one with that stamp on it (not literally)

I bought a great safe off CZ. Infac. Is there any stamps on them or anythin your supposed to say to the person you've to ring as posted above by B'man. Or will infac safe do?

You could also ring your local crime prevention officer, the number for whom is on the Garda website.

Might have a better chance of getting through, and you'll be talking to the person who's actually going to be deciding if your safe's up to spec or not.

There was also a thread on the same topic here no more than a couple of weeks ago and there was a link and a comment about the standard for infac safes.

I remember that, but I'd just like to have something I can point to besides Clivej, if you know what I mean ;)

Wasn't it a link to shoot.ie and weren't they chasing up infac about the standard?

The thing is if you can establish what the standard infac are made to (probably european) and ask your CPO if he's happy with it.

That'd be the best way, as the FPU will only tell you what's in the SI.

Shoot.ie and Duffys are the same thing ;) Still no info on their site as of today that I could see.

CPO looks like the best option now so :)

It's one of the things the new Garda website is really good on. You can get the name and contact details of every CPO for each district in the country.

Have tried a few websites and all of them that are selling the Infac gun safes state at the bottom " complies with police/british regulation". Not exactly a ringing endorsement but they would hardly put it on the website if it didn't comply.

You'd get more sense if you called speaking clock and asked there, the last time i rang them they were rude and didn't appear to have the first clue about anything relating to firearms or the firearms laws in ireland.

You must have gotten the wrong dept or a "fill in lad". Anytime i've spoken to the lads in the FPU they ahve been helpful, polite, very knowledgable, and efficient with any help they provided.
