Accessing Chorus/UPC Digi channels via MediaCenter PC

    Current setup :
Media center PC, dual tuner PCI card, UPC Analog. Sweet as - EPG, PVR all working fine. Except that BBC2 is unwatchable, apparently cos of the frequency being too close to that of DAB from treerock.

The solution from Chorus is to move me to Digital. I do not want to lose the functionality I have currently. So the question; if I get a digital-cable dual tuner card will it work with UPC to retain the functionality I have? I don't care about the Pay-Per-View channels, I just want the 'regular' ones - like I currently have. I don't want the Thomson or Pace PVR boxes (I worked on them, so I know the 'quality') - I just want to be able to plug me PC straight into the wall like I do now. Is this possible?

Otherwise I'm sticking with analog, minus BBC2.

Or; does the analog signal still come through on the same frequencies alongside the digital signal, so I can continue to watch all the stations I currently have via the PC, and BBC2 via the Digibox?

You'll still receive the analogue signal if you went for a digital pack,so you could still use the analogue signal for your setup. Digital value pack is €20 per month whereas analogue is €24.50 per month.

    Sent you a PM.

I queried UPC at great lenght about this if they would release a cam (Nagra 2 or 3) and a pre paired smart card like you get with polsat etc so i could use it in a simular setup. The answer was no.

UPC wont want there card being used in any 3rd party device.

The answer is no, with a N3 card its impossible to get the Boxkey and ird from it.

It also breaks there T&C and possibly the law.

    If you want Media Centre:

Analogue in from UPC box with IR remote from PC to change channel

Analogue (DTT next year) for four irish Station

Dual DVB-s2 Sat card(s) to record/view Free to Air Satellite,

Pay TV direct on a Media Centre contravenes T&C,

Discusiing how to do Pay TV from Cable on PC etc is not allowed here.
