First things first, be very very careful on the Ramblas. Pickpockets literally everywhere. Just have your wits about you.
Obviously you will want to visit the Sagrada Familia. Great unfinished Gaudi Cathedral.
If you have an interest in football, definly check out the Nou Camp. Id also make time to get up to the olympic stadium on the hill over looking Barca. Its beautiful up there and gives you an escape from the hustle and bustle.
The undergorund is very good and reliable in Barca. Again, beware pickpockets.
I have been there three times and i actually think the best way to see everything in the city is the tourist buses. Its something like 20 quid and it covers 2 days. It will bring you wherever you want to go. You hop off, enjoy the attraction, then you go back to the bus stop and the another tourist bus will be around in a few mins. Very reliable. You can get your tickets for it at the very bottom of the Ramblas by the sea.
    Enjoy

Hi I went to Barcelona last summer and we got the turistic bus, it has three different routes and the one ticket covers all of them, you hop on and off. We thoudgt it was great value.

You also get a book of money off vouchers that you can use along the way.

Also head to Parc GUell, a Gaudi park with amazing architecture. But once again you can hop on and hop off here. There is also the lovely Spanish village, also on the tour bus trail. Its an amazing city. The marina is stunning. You will enjoy!

Ah yes its the turistic bus that i got too. Make sure thats the tourist bus you get and not any of the others. You will know when you get there anyway, turistic is always the busiest

if you are there for more than a couple of days there are a couple of good half day trips by train -Montserrat -amazing views and nice church on the top of a mountain, home to the famous choir and abbey, if the weather is good you can take the trail to the top or there is a tram. Tarragona on the coast is another nice trip by train, nice seaside town full of Roman ruins.
