EBAY - P&P costs changed after I won the auction

    Hi there,

    Just wondering where I stand.

I won an auction for an item for $10.

The post and packaging to Ireland was listed as $10 in the auction.

I paid my $20 for the item.

The seller has now turned around and said the P&P is $54 and wants me to pay the difference.

    Where do I stand?

I want the item, but if the P&P had been listed as $64 I wouldn't have bid.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Al.

If the p+p was listed 100% to ireland as being $10 - just take it up with ebay, they are very very good when dodgy postage is involved.

Yep, follow eBay's reporting process (if you can find it, they don't make it easy). Go to the help pages, and look for "report seller performance" or something like that.

As long as P&P was listed for Ireland, or "Sellers standard international rate", then you should get it for what you paid. $54 sounds like way too much anyway, sounds a bit like a courier charge. Ask them to send it by registered airmail, as it shouldn't be that much unless the item is big and heavy.

Isn't it against ebay policy for an items shipping costing more then the item. Its usually done to avoid fees. Report it!

Before you start running to eBay, contact the seller and ask why the price has changed and why they listed the P&P at $10 originally.

Then point them to the international flat-rate box/envelope which will take normal sized packages up to 4lbs (2kg) in weight for $14...and point them to the first class airmail option which can work out at half that rate.

Of course it all depends on the item, what size it is, what it weighs etc.
If they're insisting on insurnace then it can be bought spearately but for something worth 10 bucks it's overkill.
