Is this it? I like the OT threads. You get the same heads revisiting the same forums. May as well have a bit of a chinwag. I vote we pre-ban ChupaClint though.

Other than that, I'm missing the Judo World Championships in Rotterdam this weekend, and its all my own fault.

Whats wrong with IKEA? It's 5 mins from where I live, got nice cheap food in the resto, baked haddock... and meatballs with pepper sauce... yum! If you know what you want buying wise, you're in and out in 20 mins.

Warning: do not bring a female with you :D

Even my better half hated Ikea, and that's saying something cos she loves shopping.

One of our BJJ guys Andy posted this on another site so I thought I'd share it :) It's an oldie but a goodie

We all turn up at Hangar for the normal bjj class and get told that supposedly a ninja is getting graded to 1st or 2nd dan black belt and his instructor wants him to have some sparring with other martial arts as a part of the test. No one really expected them to turn up and we were joking that the ninja’s were already there but they were invisible. Then Tyrone comes in and says the ninja’s have arrived and that they are in ninja gear and gave us a quick talk about being respectful and not laughing and try to be sensible .

So we all sit on the side of the mat and the master is in *full* ninja gear, the student was in gi pants and a t shirt I think. The student was tall but thin, maybe 6 ft, but not that built. If I remember correctly they got Little Dave to grapple him first who was I think a 4 stripe white belt at the time and he took him down , and triangled him within a minute or so they started again and he arm bared him and triangled him another couple of times. So Tyrone picked another student who was 3 stripes white belt and he proceeded to tap the ninjas out comfortably a few times , in between opponents the master would whisper stuff in the student’s ear , to give him some sort of secret messages. Also when ever the student got caught in a submission or under the mount, the ninja would yell out ‘MUSASHI’ as if the student would get some special ninja power and explode out of it, unfortunately mushashi didn’t work.

He fought a two stripe white belt who tapped him out a few more times and was absolutely f*cked with exhaustion. So the ninja master was insinuating that Tyrone had been choosing top students (even though they were all white belts) and it wasn’t a fair indication. So Tyrone said the ninja could pick any one he wanted.
This kid (yes he was like 12 or 13 ) named Scotty trained there a bit , he was 2 stripe white belt , but was seriously 12 and weighed nothing , he was sitting at the end and the ninja said what about him . Tyrone didn’t want to agree to it , but asked Scotty whether he wanted to give it a go and Scotty said ‘as long as he doesn’t hurt me’ like most 12 yr olds would when they are grappling a 6 ft guy in his 20’s . So Tyrone said that he would make sure he kept a close eye.
They start grappling and the ninja student grabs Scotty, puts in a head lock and just lies on him while the master is yelling ‘squeeze harder, squeeze harder’, so everyone one from our club start yelling for Scotty to scoot his hips out, which he did, then everyone instructs him to take the ninjas back, which he does, pops his head out and rear naked chokes the ninja! The crowd went wild!
So the student just gets choked out by a 12yr old kid and the ninja master say's that he will now fight Scotty , Tyrone said no way that anyone’s else was going fight Scotty . The ninja master starts saying that because there was no stand up it limited a lot of their weapons , Tyrone said that they could fight full NHB rules if they wanted , which they declined , but wanted to put their standup to the test.
So they got a guy who trained in TKD next door and bring him in to spar some stand up with no ground fighting. The TKD guy is about 5’2” maybe 60kgs at the most , so the ninja master and him circle a bit , and the TKD guy kicks the ninja in the head a couple of times … it becomes apparent that ninja cant see properly because of his ninja head gear so he has to stop and take that off . Then they start again and as soon as the TKD goes to kick the ninja in the head again, the ninja shoots in to take him down, the TKD guy is asking what the f*ck is going on, as he was just doing stand up …

It all basically ends their with the ninja’s master hanging around and showing some wrist locks they know, while the student is throwing up and crying the toilets …not sure if he got the promotion

Oh and by the way, Scotty parents came to pick him up and he runs out yelling ‘I choked out a ninja Dad!!!’

But to give him his due's, a man who admits to driving a Micra is a man with more balls then me!.

    I'll start with a rant ... /IKEA - a morning spent in hell, DON'T DO IKEA guys!.

Ah I think it's ok. 3 euro for 3 energy saver bulbs and a tenner for a cafetierre. I was happy. My advice would be to let the mrs go on her own the first time (we've been twice and the first time was a bit of a nightmare....flippin' 4 hours or something ridiculous). The meatballs are decent enough and the coffee refills are free.
Other than that, I'm missing the Judo World Championships in Rotterdam this weekend, and its all my own fault.

    G'wan....what did you do?
    How are you Khannie?.

I am legendary at the moment to be honest. I've a fight coming up in 5 weeks. Feeling good. Diet is spot on. Weight is good. Training's good. Getting lots of sleep. Got some hot love last night. Life's treating me well. :D

Good to have an off topic thread to ask questions like this -

Has Paddy Clint EVER been with a girl who was sober?

These are two I have in mind (modified slightly from what you see here)..

    judo-picto.gif

    Or this one..

    judo1circle2.jpg

(without the Iowa State Judo Club writing of course).

I like 'em both, if I choose the larger one it'll go onto my right calf muscle, I'm not sure about where the first would look good if I choose to get it done.

    Opinions?.

I wouldn't be gone on either of them for a calf tattoo really. Why not something simpler like:

The first one is growing on me, and I like the way most ppl wouldnt get it.
Just make sure it gets done right, as it could look like two ppl doing other non-judo stuff.......;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,624 ✭✭✭Dancor

    The first one IMO Makikomi.

I like the style. Here is a similar style one from the T&P forum

Thanks for the opinions lads, its gas that most people are picking the first one!.

I think the second would suit my upper back better.

Mmmm, anyway onto other matters - Ribeye steak, chunky chips and beer's tonight :) - I've been on a slight diet and upped my training for the summer and dropped from 19st 10lbs to an even 18st (as of this morning) so I'm spoiling myself with a 'treat/cheat night' :P

Now just going out for a cycle, run & swim to work up an appetite :D

    The first one is class.

I reckon modify the first one a bit, but i like the shape of it and that its not blantantly obvious what it is at first glance.

Does anyone else have martial arts related tattoos, or is anyone thinking of it?

Considering one. Either a sak yant type one:

    122225101-M.jpg

or someone performing a ram muay:

    muaythai-wai-kru.jpg

I'd also like to get a scar done (scarification). I have a design made up for one and I've just been putting it off because of the healing time. We have a chisler on the way though so I'll consider it when this years fighting season comes to an end (baby's due in January so I probably wont be fighting again until March).

Thats cool Khannie, i had to wiki the first one and i liked what i read! I would love to get one related to martial arts however i would have to be more devoted to training first so it would really mean something to me.

Well finally got my lazy ass up to Stigmata in Swords village and booked an appointment for the tattoo - its a two week wait but I'll post up a photo when its done.

Oh, my cheat day yesterday - the steak and chips & Carlsberg were beautiful, but the damned hangover is a bitch

Back to healthy living for another while.
