I am planning to travel to around the world, not decided where yet, india, south east asia, nz, south america, las vegas - something like that for 6 months or so. Does anyone want to plan this trip with me? seeing as none of my friends are prepared to leave the wives / kids / jobs and go.
I am a 29 year old male gsoh and all that jazz, recently unemployed so goin blowin my redundancy money on travelling before i go back to college.
will probably go on my own but I would rather go with someone in the same boat to add to the fun of the trip. So anyone interested in going to India to begin with?

Sounds like a good idea to me :)
R u looking for male or female companions? U should get a big group together and go travelling, it would be safer and more fun :)

either male or female, doesnt matter once i can get on ok with them.
i think it will be difficult to find a group of people who dont know each other who all want to go travelling at the same time but if there is thatd be great.
im thinking about leaving in few weeks. what are your plans?

Big groups from experience are usually the opposite. Everyone wants to do their own thing and then when moving on and trying to get accommodation there might be only 3 spaces left but 4 of yis.

Anyways jozywales even if you head out by yourself i doubt you'd end up doing the trip yourself. you'll always meet people traveling the same direction. I find it's harder to be by yourself than not while traveling alone.

What kind of budget would you be on?

ya neamh your right ...im sure i'll meet loadsa gang on my way ....but just think if theres some people in same situation as me it would to go on some of my trip with it might be easier & more craic.
rebelgirrl ive no clue what my budget is - can get a 8 stop round the world flights for about 1500euro - then maybe about a 1000euro for every month im travelling (anyone whose done rtw trip does this sound reasonable?). hopefully it'll be less, will be staying in hostels and trying not to waste much money.

The thing is there will be a lot of people in the same boat as yourself. The only thing is that you didn't originally fly out with them. I rarely ever take a bus by myself while changing towns and i've yet to cross a border by myself even though i've crossed 64 of them. You will meet people you'll travel with for a day or so and you will easily meet people you can spend months with. I done that on my last trip. Nearly all the way from Colombia to Argentina.

if i was you i'd go it alone. most fun i had was when my friend went home early and i was forced to come out of my shell to tourists and especially locals.

I have to agree with the others even though I am travelling with my girlfriend. You will meet so many people and travel with them, that at times you would wish you could have some time alone, but on the other side you will have times you wished you had some one to share it all with. Dont worry about been on your own though, because you rarely ever will.

What ever you do though, Do not travel in large groups. Listen to what others have said here. It will be a nightmare. The less the better. Keep large groups for 1 day tours only!!!
