The Strand Hotel. Ask for a river view on the 6th floor if they have it (maybe the river view is entireley taken by conferencing rooms on the 6th floor.)

The Marriott Hotel is supposed to have a great chef if you're looking for somewhere to wine and dine. To go out? Maybe Dolans, they have live trad ever week night.

Gotta disagree here, been to number one for a theatre launch and have eaten there and the place just comes accross as overpriced and snobbish. Havent stayed overnight so cant comment on that. Would go with above post though and recommend the strand.

I would reccomend the Mariott Hotel - rooms are fab and ask for one high up with a Shannon view and you will be able to see Thomond Park. I haven't eaten here so would be unable to comment.

Hamptons Restaurant (Steaks) is beside the hotel and is bussing most nights. It can have mixed reviews but I have eaten here 3 times and never had a bad meal. Lovely flame grilled steak.

The River Bistro is also nice.

Given that it is a Tuesday some hotels may have good dinner, B&B deals. Have a look at Dromoland and Adare Manor if you really want to impress!

Try Punches Hotel - not flash by any means but it could be cheap!

Can you stay 2 nights - hotels may give you a better deal if you do.

Try the Absolute Hotel as well. Nice spot and usually fairly reasonable.

God have eaten there a few times at this stage and food is always good as for pricing drink ther is on par with anywhere else in town but the accom in the old part is some of the most unique in the city

    + 1 for the strand

Anywhere in the city centre is within walking distance of TP

The Absolute Hotel or The George come well recommended

The Marriott is relaunching next week as the Savoy, well worth a stay, imo.

The Strand for location. 5 mins walk to Thomond Park, and cross the shannon to city centre
